Does skipping build bone strength?

There is a signal, from one study. The 2020 trial in Children reported increased bone mineral density in the freestyle rope skipping group, with a small effect size. Is skipping suitable for children?

It has been studied in them. The Children trial recruited middle school students of around 13 years of age and ran supervised 45-minute sessions three times a week for 12 weeks. How long did the trials run before measuring results?

Weeks rather than months. The pilot in Nutrients ran eight weeks, the Children trial ran 12 weeks, and the Frontiers trial ran two months. Can skipping replace strength training?

Not on the NHS guidelines, which treat the two separately and ask for strengthening work on at least two days a week. The Children trial did record improvements in standing long jump and grip strength in both skipping groups.
