About CELOSTATIN LAR 30MG INJECTION

  • CELOSTATIN LAR 30MG INJECTION contains octreotide, a synthetic compound similar to somatostatin, a natural substance in the body that regulates certain hormones like growth hormone. It is prescribed to reduce excessive growth hormone production in individuals with acromegaly, a condition causing enlargement of hands, feet, and facial features, along with joint pain and other symptoms, particularly when surgery, radiation, or other medications are ineffective.
  • This medication also helps manage diarrhea and flushing associated with carcinoid tumors (slow-growing tumors releasing symptom-causing substances) and vasoactive intestinal peptide-secreting adenomas (VIP-omas), which are tumors in the pancreas that release substances causing symptoms. Furthermore, it prevents complications following pancreatic surgery. CELOSTATIN LAR 30MG INJECTION is also used to stop bleeding and prevent re-bleeding from ruptured gastro-esophageal varices in patients with chronic liver disease. It is also indicated for pituitary tumors that produce excessive thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) when surgery or radiotherapy aren't suitable or haven't worked, or as a temporary measure after radiotherapy until it takes full effect.
  • Before using CELOSTATIN LAR 30MG INJECTION, inform your doctor if you are allergic to octreotide or any of its components. Disclose any history of gallstones, high or low blood sugar, vitamin B12 deficiency, or liver disease.
