JOLLTRIM DS TABLET 10'S is a combination antibiotic medication containing the active ingredients sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim. It is prescribed to combat a range of bacterial infections, including pneumonia, bronchitis, urinary tract infections (UTIs), ear infections (otitis media), and abdominal infections. The medication works by inhibiting the growth and multiplication of bacteria, effectively eliminating the infection from the body.
This medication functions by interfering with the bacterial synthesis of folic acid, a crucial nutrient for bacterial growth. Sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim act synergistically, blocking different steps in the folic acid synthesis pathway. This dual action makes JOLLTRIM DS TABLET 10'S particularly effective against a broad spectrum of bacteria.
However, JOLLTRIM DS TABLET 10'S is not suitable for everyone. It should not be taken by individuals with known allergies to sulfamethoxazole, trimethoprim, or any other sulfonamide medications.
