About ACTEMRA 200MG/10ML INJECTION

  • ACTEMRA 200MG/10ML INJECTION contains tocilizumab, a monoclonal antibody medication. Monoclonal antibodies are proteins created from specialized immune cells. This injection is prescribed for individuals with moderate to severe active rheumatoid arthritis (RA) who haven't responded adequately to other RA treatments. It is also used to treat giant cell arteritis (a disease affecting the arteries).
  • In children, ACTEMRA 200MG/10ML INJECTION is indicated for systemic juvenile idiopathic arthritis (sJIA) and polyarticular juvenile idiopathic arthritis (pJIA). These conditions cause pain and swelling in one or more joints in children aged one year and older.
  • Before using this medication, inform your doctor if the patient has a history of allergic reactions to its ingredients or currently has a severe infection. Immediately consult your doctor if any allergic reaction occurs (difficulty breathing, chest tightness, rash, itching, hives, swelling of lips, tongue, or face) or if signs of an infection (short- or long-term), tuberculosis, intestinal ulcers or diverticulitis (small pouches in the digestive tract), liver disease, cancer, or kidney problems are observed. Alert your doctor to persistent headaches as well.
  • Inform your doctor if the child has a history of macrophage activation syndrome (activation and uncontrolled proliferation of specific blood cells). Proceed with caution when treating elderly patients, as they are more susceptible to infections. If you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding, consult your doctor before using this medication.
  • This medication works by targeting a specific protein in the body that causes inflammation. By blocking this protein, it helps to reduce inflammation and relieve symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis, giant cell arteritis, and juvenile idiopathic arthritis. Regular monitoring by your healthcare provider is essential during treatment to assess the medication's effectiveness and to manage any potential side effects.
  • It's important to discuss all medications, supplements, and medical conditions with your doctor before starting ACTEMRA 200MG/10ML INJECTION to ensure it's safe and appropriate for your specific situation. Adhering to your doctor's instructions and attending all scheduled appointments will help optimize the benefits of this treatment.

  • Systemic Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (sJIA): A severe form of arthritis in children that affects the entire body, including internal organs.
  • Cytokine release syndrome: A systemic inflammatory response that can occur after certain immunotherapies, causing fever, nausea, and difficulty breathing.

Pregnancy

CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR

Consult your healthcare provider if you plan to get pregnant. However, ACTEMRA 200MG/10ML INJECTION has not been given to expectant mothers, and it should only be used when the projected advantages outweigh any possible hazards to the fetus.

Dosage of ACTEMRA 200MG/10ML INJECTIONArrow

  • ACTEMRA 200MG/10ML INJECTION is administered by a trained healthcare professional in a hospital or clinic environment. It is typically given intravenously, meaning it's injected directly into a vein. The exact dosage, the method of administration, and how often you receive the injection will be determined by your doctor. Several factors influence this decision, including the specific condition being treated, its severity, your overall health status, your weight, and how well you respond to the medication.
  • Prior to each infusion, your doctor may order blood tests to monitor your condition and ensure the medication is working effectively and safely. These tests help to detect any potential side effects early on. It's crucial to attend all scheduled appointments and inform your doctor about any changes in your health or any other medications you're taking.
  • The infusion process itself can take several hours, so it's important to be prepared and comfortable during the treatment. If you experience any discomfort or have any concerns during the infusion, immediately inform the healthcare provider administering the medication. They can adjust the infusion rate or take other measures to ensure your comfort and safety.

How to store ACTEMRA 200MG/10ML INJECTION?Arrow

  • Keep ACTEMRA 200MG INJ 10ML away from the reach of children and pets.
  • Store ACTEMRA 200MG INJ 10ML in a refrigerator (2 - 8°C). Do not freeze.

Benefits of ACTEMRA 200MG/10ML INJECTIONArrow

  • ACTEMRA 200MG/10ML INJECTION is a medication that works by targeting and inhibiting the activity of interleukin-6 (IL-6), a protein that is a key player in the body's inflammatory pathways. When the body experiences inflammation due to various conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis or giant cell arteritis, IL-6 levels often rise, contributing to the symptoms and progression of the disease. ACTEMRA 200MG/10ML INJECTION effectively reduces inflammation by blocking the action of IL-6.
  • By preventing IL-6 from binding to its receptors, ACTEMRA 200MG/10ML INJECTION helps to regulate the immune system's response and reduce the excessive inflammation that can damage tissues and organs. This targeted approach can alleviate symptoms such as pain, swelling, and stiffness, and improve overall function and quality of life for individuals with inflammatory conditions.
  • Moreover, because ACTEMRA 200MG/10ML INJECTION directly addresses the inflammatory process at a molecular level, it can be a valuable treatment option for patients who have not responded adequately to other therapies. Its ability to modulate the inflammatory response makes it a crucial component in the management of certain autoimmune and inflammatory disorders.

How to use ACTEMRA 200MG/10ML INJECTIONArrow

  • ACTEMRA 200MG/10ML INJECTION will be administered to you by a qualified healthcare professional in a hospital or clinical setting. This medication is typically given intravenously, meaning it's injected directly into your vein. The specific dosage, the method of administration, and the frequency with which you receive ACTEMRA 200MG/10ML INJECTION will be determined by your doctor.
  • Several factors influence these decisions, including the specific condition being treated, its severity, your individual response to the medication, and any other medical conditions you may have. Your doctor will carefully assess your overall health profile to personalize your treatment plan.
  • It is crucial to adhere to the schedule and dosage prescribed by your doctor. Do not attempt to self-administer ACTEMRA 200MG/10ML INJECTION or alter the dosage without consulting your doctor. Regular monitoring by your healthcare team is essential to ensure the medication is working effectively and to manage any potential side effects.
  • If you have any questions or concerns about your ACTEMRA 200MG/10ML INJECTION treatment, don't hesitate to discuss them with your doctor or nurse. They are the best resource for providing you with clear and accurate information.
