Common: dizziness, difficulty sleeping, nausea, dry mouth, and a blotchy purplish mottling of the skin on the legs (livedo reticularis). Serious (seek medical attention): confusion, hallucinations, or mood changes; ankle swelling or breathlessness; difficulty passing urine; or a serious allergic reaction. Report these promptly.
Take it as prescribed, with the last dose earlier in the day to reduce sleep problems. Swallow with water. Do not stop it suddenly, as this can worsen symptoms.
Report confusion, hallucinations, mood changes, ankle swelling, breathlessness, or difficulty urinating to your doctor, especially in older patients.
Tell your doctor if you have kidney problems, heart failure, glaucoma, a history of seizures, or psychiatric illness. The dose may need adjusting in kidney impairment.
Do not drink alcohol, which adds to dizziness and confusion. Stand up slowly to avoid light-headedness, and be cautious driving until you know how it affects you.
The purplish leg mottling (livedo reticularis) is a known, usually harmless effect that fades after stopping. Tell your doctor if you are concerned or if there is swelling.
