Common (mostly related to terbutaline): fine tremor (shakiness, especially of the hands), palpitations or a faster heartbeat, headache, restlessness or nervousness, and dizziness. Nausea, vomiting, and mild stomach upset can also occur.Others: muscle cramps, sweating, and rarely a rash or itching.Serious (seek medical attention): a very fast or irregular heartbeat, chest pain, severe dizziness, or signs of an allergic reaction (rash, swelling of the face/lips, difficulty breathing). People with heart disease, high blood pressure, an overactive thyroid, or diabetes should use it with particular care.
Shake the bottle well and measure the dose with the cup provided (not a household spoon). A typical adult dose is 5–10 ml three times a day; children's doses are lower and based on age — follow your doctor's or the label's instructions. It can be taken with or without food.
No. ASCORIL SF is designed for a productive (wet) cough with phlegm — it helps loosen and clear mucus. It is not suitable for a dry, tickly cough, which usually needs a cough suppressant instead. Check with your doctor if you're unsure.
These effects come from terbutaline, the bronchodilator. Mild tremor and a faster heartbeat are common and usually settle as your body adjusts. Tell your doctor if they are strong, persistent, or if you feel chest discomfort or a very irregular heartbeat.
Tell your doctor if you have heart problems, high blood pressure, an overactive thyroid, diabetes, or a tendency to seizures, or if you take beta-blockers, diuretics, or certain antidepressants (MAOIs/tricyclics). Use in pregnancy or breastfeeding only on medical advice.
Use it only for short-term relief. If your cough lasts more than about a week, keeps coming back, or is accompanied by fever, rash, persistent headache, breathlessness, or blood in the phlegm, stop and see a doctor.
