How ASTHALIN 4MG TABLET 45'S Works

• Salbutamol stimulates beta-2 receptors on the smooth muscle that wraps around the airways. This raises cyclic AMP inside the muscle cells, which relaxes them, so the airways widen and air moves in and out more easily.
• Because a tablet is absorbed into the bloodstream, salbutamol also reaches beta receptors in the heart, blood vessels and muscles. This is why tablets cause more tremor, palpitations and muscle cramps than an inhaler. Cipla's own educational material notes that a 4 mg tablet contains about twenty times the salbutamol of a single dose from an inhaler.

Fine tremor, usually of the hands, is the most common effect. Headache, nervousness, restlessness, dizziness, sweating, nausea and muscle cramps are also common. These are more marked with tablets than with inhalers, and they often settle after the first week or two. Salbutamol can cause a fast or irregular heartbeat and palpitations, and rarely angina or changes in blood pressure. It can lower blood potassium and raise blood sugar. Chest pain, a racing heartbeat or fainting need urgent medical attention. Rarely, breathing gets worse instead of better. Allergic reactions, including swelling of the face or difficulty breathing, need emergency care.

• Store the bottle tightly closed in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight, and follow the storage instruction printed on the current Cipla pack. Keep it out of the reach of children, and do not use it after the expiry date.

• Do not use the tablet to relieve a sudden asthma attack
• Keep using any preventer inhaler the doctor has prescribed
• Tell the doctor about heart disease, thyroid problems or diabetes
• Avoid large amounts of tea, coffee and energy drinks
• See the doctor if breathing symptoms are getting worse or need more medicine

• Asthalin tablets can be taken with or without food. Large amounts of caffeine, from strong tea, coffee or energy drinks, can add to tremor and a fast heartbeat.
