How ASTHALIN INHALER Works

• Salbutamol selectively stimulates beta-2 adrenergic receptors on the smooth muscle surrounding the airways. This stimulation relaxes the muscle, widening the airways and allowing more air to move in and out of the lungs.
• By relieving this airway narrowing, Asthalin Inhaler eases wheezing, breathlessness and chest tightness within minutes of use. It relieves symptoms during an acute episode but does not treat the underlying airway inflammation, so it is generally used together with any preventer medicine the prescriber has advised.

Tremor, headache, palpitations, an increased heart rate and muscle cramps are the most commonly reported effects. A sore throat, respiratory tract inflammation and cough have also been reported. A rare but serious effect called paradoxical bronchospasm, where breathing suddenly worsens just after using the inhaler, needs immediate medical attention. Chest pain, a severe headache or marked dizziness also need prompt medical attention.

• Store the inhaler in its original pack, at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture, and out of the reach of children and pets.

• Carry the inhaler at all times for prompt relief of sudden symptoms
• Check inhaler technique periodically with the prescriber or pharmacist
• Report any unusual muscle twitching, weakness or irregular heartbeat, which can signal a potassium imbalance
• Tell the prescriber about any heart condition, high blood pressure, overactive thyroid or diabetes before starting
• Avoid smoking, since it irritates the lungs and can worsen breathing difficulty
• Seek immediate medical attention if wheezing suddenly worsens just after using the inhaler, or for chest pain or severe breathlessness
