Like all medicines, AUGPEN 250/50MG INJECTION can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. **Common Side Effects (may affect up to 1 in 10 people):** * Diarrhea * Nausea * Vomiting * Skin rash * Thrush (a fungal infection of the mouth, skin folds, or vagina) **Uncommon Side Effects (may affect up to 1 in 100 people):** * Indigestion * Dizziness * Headache * Increase in some substances (enzymes) produced by the liver **Rare Side Effects (may affect up to 1 in 1,000 people):** * Skin rash, which may blister, and looks like small targets (central dark spots surrounded by a paler area, with a dark ring around the edge – erythema multiforme) * Low number of white blood cells (leukopenia) * Low number of platelets (cells that help blood clot – thrombocytopenia) **Very Rare Side Effects (may affect up to 1 in 10,000 people):** * Allergic reactions (may include rash, itching, swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat, difficulty breathing) * Drug-induced aseptic meningitis * Severe skin reactions: * A widespread rash with blisters and peeling skin, particularly around the mouth, nose, eyes and genitals (Stevens-Johnson syndrome) * A widespread red skin rash with small pus-containing blisters (bullous exfoliative dermatitis) * A red, scaly rash with bumps under the skin and blisters (exanthematous pustulosis) * Inflammation of the liver (hepatitis) * Jaundice, caused by increased bilirubin levels in the blood (a substance produced in the liver) * Increased time to blood clot * Hyperactivity * Convulsions (seizures) – may occur in people on high doses or with kidney problems * Black tongue, which looks hairy * Tooth discoloration **Other Side Effects:** * Flu-like symptoms with a rash, fever, swollen glands, and increased levels of liver enzymes & increase in white blood cells (Drug Reaction with Eosinophilia and Systemic Symptoms [DRESS]) * Inflammation of the large intestine (enterocolitis) * Crystals in urine, leading to kidney injury
