AVOMINE TABLET 10'S may cause drowsiness, dry mouth, blurred vision, constipation, lightheadedness, and difficulty urinating. If any of these side effects persist or worsen, inform your doctor.

Allergies
CONTRAINDICATEDDo not take Avomine if you are allergic to promethazine or any of the ingredients in the tablet.
AVOMINE TABLET 10'S is antihistaminic drug and not a narcotic/opiate/pain killer. Patient should follow the advice of doctor regarding its use
No, it is available with doctor's prescription only
AVOMINE TABLET 10'S is used for treatment of symptoms of allergies, but not used for hangover, sore throat, stomach flu, cramps, toothache, headache and cough. Patient should follow the advice of doctor regarding its use
Yes, but taking other medicines may alter the effects of AVOMINE TABLET 10'S. Always consult your doctor for the change of dose regimen or an alternative drug of choice that may strictly be required
AVOMINE TABLET 10'S may cause these side effects which are not serious. However, always consult your doctor if you experience any of these side effects.
Avomine tablet contains promethazine, an antihistamine mainly used to prevent and treat nausea and vomiting, especially due to motion sickness, vertigo, or other causes as advised by a doctor. It may also be prescribed to relieve allergy symptoms such as runny nose, sneezing, and itching, and sometimes as a short-term sedative under medical supervision.
Avomine works by blocking histamine H1 receptors and certain chemical signals in the brain that activate the vomiting center. By reducing the sensitivity of the inner ear and the vomiting center, it helps prevent and control motion sickness, nausea, and vomiting. Its sedative effect can also reduce the feeling of uneasiness associated with travel sickness.
Use of Avomine during pregnancy should only be on the advice of a doctor. Promethazine has been used in pregnancy for nausea and vomiting, but safety depends on the stage of pregnancy, dose, and individual risk factors. Do not self-medicate for morning sickness or travel sickness when pregnant; always consult your obstetrician or healthcare provider before using Avomine.
Promethazine may pass into breast milk and can potentially cause excessive sleepiness, irritability, or breathing problems in a nursing infant. Avomine should be used with caution in breastfeeding women and only if clearly needed and prescribed by a doctor. Your doctor may suggest an alternative medicine or advise monitoring the baby closely for unusual drowsiness or feeding difficulties.
Avomine commonly causes drowsiness, dizziness, blurred vision, and reduced alertness. You should not drive, ride a bike, or operate heavy machinery after taking Avomine until you know how it affects you. If you feel sleepy, lightheaded, or have blurred vision, avoid any activity that requires full concentration and quick reactions.
No, alcohol should be avoided while taking Avomine. Both alcohol and promethazine depress the central nervous system, and taking them together can lead to excessive drowsiness, dizziness, poor coordination, confusion, and in severe cases, breathing difficulty. Avoid alcoholic drinks and products containing alcohol during treatment with Avomine.
Patients with liver or kidney impairment should use Avomine only under strict medical supervision. Promethazine is processed by the liver and excreted through the kidneys, so impaired function may increase the risk of side effects and drug accumulation. Your doctor may decide whether Avomine is appropriate for you and, if needed, adjust treatment or choose an alternative medicine.
Do not take Avomine if you are allergic to promethazine or any component of the tablet, or if you have had a severe reaction to similar antihistamines before. Inform your doctor if you have asthma, chronic breathing problems, or a history of severe allergic reactions, as promethazine can sometimes thicken airway secretions and may not be suitable in certain respiratory conditions. Seek urgent medical help if you develop rash, swelling of the face or throat, or difficulty breathing after taking it.
Use of Avomine in children must strictly follow a doctor’s advice and local age restrictions. Promethazine can cause serious side effects in young children, including breathing problems and excessive sedation, and is generally not recommended below a certain age. Never give Avomine to a child for travel sickness or as a sedative without explicit pediatric guidance.
Common side effects of Avomine include drowsiness, dizziness, dry mouth, blurred vision, constipation, and sometimes difficulty in passing urine. Some people may experience confusion, especially older adults, or low blood pressure leading to lightheadedness on standing. Serious but less common effects include irregular heartbeat, seizures, severe allergic reactions, or breathing difficulty. Contact your doctor if side effects are severe, persistent, or worrying.
Caution is required when Avomine is taken with other medicines that cause drowsiness, such as sleeping pills, anti-anxiety drugs, opioid painkillers, some antidepressants, or other antihistamines. Combining these can increase the risk of excessive sedation, confusion, falls, and breathing problems. Always inform your doctor and pharmacist about all medicines and supplements you are taking before starting Avomine.
