Most side effects are temporary and resolve as your body adapts to the medication. However, if they continue or cause concern, please seek medical advice.

Allergies
Contraindicated in known hypersensitivityBandy syrup must not be used in children with a known allergy to albendazole or any component of the formulation.
If your child complains of an itchy bottom (rectal area), difficulty sitting, fatigue, and restless sleep due to anal itching or persistent stomach pain with loss of appetite or frequent indigestion, it might indicate worm infestation. Another sign of worm infection is pica in which you may notice your child eating inedible substances such as mud. Speak to your child’s doctor as soon as you notice any of these in your child. The doctor may ask for your child’s stool and blood samples on 3 different days for examination. Depending upon the reports, the doctor will decide upon the treatment and prescribe your child with medicine.
Children typically harbor the highest intensity of infection. The infection can be transmitted from the eggs of worms present in human feces which contaminate soil in areas with poor sanitation. Transmission can occur by drinking contaminated water or by eating contaminated vegetables and fruits without washing or peeling. Your child may also get infected by playing in the soil that is contaminated with the eggs of the worms. When your child returns home after playing, ask them to clean up using soap and water.
Deworming is the process of killing and expelling worms from the body. BANDY SYRUP 10 ML is widely used for the deworming treatment for children.
You can give your child medicines meant to relieve pain and fever unless your doctor has told you not to. However, there do exist some medicines that should not be given with BANDY SYRUP 10 ML. So, to negate the risk of any side effects, talk to your child’s doctor before giving any other medicines to your child.
BANDY SYRUP 10 ML can be given at any time of the day just remember to give it with a fat-containing food such as milk.
BANDY SYRUP 10 ML should not be given to children with known allergy to albendazole or any other similar medicines like mebendazole or thiabendazole, in the past. Signs of an allergic reaction may include an itchy skin rash, shortness of breath, and swelling of the face or tongue. Let the doctor know about all of your child’s medical conditions before giving the medicine. Let the doctor also know about any other medicines that your child is taking for any other conditions, as they may affect or be affected by this medicine.
Bandy syrup contains an antiparasitic medicine (albendazole) that is used to treat various worm infestations in children, such as roundworm, hookworm, whipworm, pinworm (threadworm), and some tapeworm infections. The exact indication depends on the doctor’s diagnosis based on symptoms, stool tests, and local treatment recommendations.
The correct Bandy syrup dose for a child cannot be generalized and must not be guessed at home. It depends on the child’s age, body weight, type and severity of worm infection, and overall health, including liver and kidney function. Only a registered doctor or pediatrician can calculate and prescribe the appropriate dose and duration. Do not use any approximate or previously used dose without medical advice.
Give Bandy syrup exactly as prescribed by the doctor. Shake the bottle well before each use, measure the dose with the provided measuring cup or oral syringe, and administer it by mouth. It may be given with or after food if the doctor advises. Do not change the dose, frequency, or duration on your own, and do not stop early even if the child seems better unless the doctor instructs you to do so.
If you miss a scheduled dose, give it as soon as you remember, unless it is almost time for the next dose. In that case, skip the missed dose and continue with the regular schedule. Do not double the dose to make up for a missed one. If the treatment schedule is complex or you are unsure what to do, contact your doctor or pharmacist for specific guidance.
Commonly reported side effects with albendazole-containing products like Bandy syrup may include mild nausea, abdominal pain, diarrhea, headache, dizziness, or temporary changes in liver enzymes on blood tests. These are usually mild and short-lived. However, if your child develops severe abdominal pain, persistent vomiting, yellowing of the eyes or skin, dark urine, unusual tiredness, rash, swelling of the face or lips, or breathing difficulty, stop the medicine and seek urgent medical care.
Albendazole is processed mainly by the liver, so Bandy syrup must be used with great caution in children who have existing liver disease or abnormal liver function tests. In such cases, the doctor may adjust the dose, choose an alternative treatment, or monitor liver function closely with blood tests. Never give Bandy syrup to a child with known liver problems without explicit approval and supervision from a specialist.
In children with kidney disease, the use of Bandy syrup requires medical supervision. Although albendazole is primarily metabolized in the liver, kidney function and overall health can influence how the medicine is handled by the body. The doctor will decide whether it is appropriate, whether any dose adjustment is needed, and whether additional monitoring is required. Do not administer it without discussing the child’s kidney condition with the treating physician.
If your child has a known allergy to albendazole or any similar antiparasitic medicines, or has previously developed rash, swelling, breathing difficulty, or severe reactions after taking such drugs, inform the doctor before starting Bandy syrup. The medicine may be contraindicated, and the doctor may choose a different treatment. If any signs of allergy such as rash, itching, swelling of the face or tongue, or difficulty breathing appear after a dose, stop the medicine immediately and seek emergency medical care.
Some children may experience dizziness, headache, or tiredness while taking albendazole-containing medicines like Bandy syrup. If your child seems unusually drowsy, dizzy, or unsteady, it is safer to avoid activities that require full alertness and coordination, such as cycling, climbing, or using potentially dangerous equipment, until the doctor confirms it is safe to resume normal activities.
Albendazole is generally not recommended during pregnancy unless the potential benefit clearly outweighs the risk, and it should only be used under specialist supervision. For breastfeeding adolescents, the decision to use Bandy syrup must be made by a doctor who will weigh the benefits of treating the worm infection against any potential risk to the infant. If there is any possibility that an adolescent girl taking Bandy syrup could be pregnant, this must be discussed with a healthcare professional before starting treatment.
Alcohol consumption is not recommended with albendazole-containing medicines like Bandy syrup, as both alcohol and the drug can affect the liver and may increase the risk of side effects such as dizziness or liver enzyme abnormalities. Adolescents should avoid alcohol completely, and caregivers should inform the doctor about any alcohol use before treatment is started.
