About BESPONSA 1MG/VIAL INJECTION
- BESPONSA 1MG/VIAL INJECTION contains the active ingredient Inotuzumab ozogamicin. It's a medicine used to fight cancer, specifically a type called acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) in adults. This treatment is typically given when other treatments haven't worked well enough or the cancer has returned.
- Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) is a blood cancer. It happens when the bone marrow, which usually makes healthy blood cells, starts making too many young, abnormal white blood cells. These abnormal cells build up, crowding out the healthy ones.
- You should NOT receive BESPONSA 1MG/VIAL INJECTION if you are allergic to Inotuzumab ozogamicin or any other ingredients in this medicine. It's also not suitable if you have a history of certain serious liver problems, such as veno-occlusive disease (a blockage in liver blood vessels), cirrhosis (severe scarring), nodular regenerative hyperplasia (changes linked to liver portal hypertension), active hepatitis (liver inflammation), or blood clots in the liver. This medicine is generally not recommended for children and teenagers.
- Before starting treatment with BESPONSA 1MG/VIAL INJECTION, tell your doctor about all your medical conditions. Mention if you have symptoms of tumor lysis syndrome (a reaction when cancer cells break down), low blood cell counts (like low neutrophils which help fight infection), high levels of certain enzymes like amylase or lipase, or a history of an irregular heartbeat (called QT interval prolongation). Your doctor will monitor you closely for these issues during treatment.
- It is very important to tell your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding. Women must use effective birth control during treatment and for at least 8 months afterwards. Men must use effective birth control during treatment and for at least 5 months afterwards. Discuss any fertility concerns with your healthcare team. Regular blood tests will be done to check your blood counts, liver function, and heart rhythm (QT interval) to ensure the treatment is safe for you.

Benefits of BESPONSA 1MG/VIAL INJECTION
- Inotuzumab ozogamicin is a powerful medicine designed to fight a type of blood cancer called Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). It works by specifically finding and attaching to a protein known as CD22, which is very often found on the surface of ALL cancer cells. Think of CD22 as a unique marker on these cancer cells. Once Inotuzumab ozogamicin latches onto the CD22 protein on the surface of an ALL cell, the cancer cell "takes in" the medicine. This is like the cancer cell absorbing the drug from its surface. The drug then releases a potent substance inside the cell. This substance, the ozogamicin part, travels to the cell's nucleus, which contains its DNA. It then disrupts and damages the DNA, which is essential for the cell's survival and ability to multiply. By damaging the DNA, the medicine prevents the cancer cells from growing and dividing. This severe damage ultimately triggers the cancer cell's self-destruction process, leading to its death. This targeted approach means the medicine primarily affects cancer cells with the CD22 marker, helping to spare healthy cells that do not have this protein on their surface.
How to use BESPONSA 1MG/VIAL INJECTION
- Only a qualified healthcare professional, such as a doctor or nurse, is authorized to administer BESPONSA 1MG/VIAL INJECTION. It is absolutely crucial that you do not attempt to inject this medicine yourself at home. Your treating physician will determine the appropriate dose and the total duration of your treatment course. This decision is carefully made based on several factors, including the specific type and severity of your disease, your overall health status, and how you respond to the initial treatment. The medication will be delivered directly into your bloodstream through a vein using an intravenous infusion, commonly known as a drip. During the infusion and for a period afterward, you will be under careful observation by the healthcare team. This close monitoring is essential to detect and promptly manage any potential side effects or adverse reactions that might occur. Administering this potent medicine requires specialized expertise to ensure it is given safely and effectively. Therefore, rely completely on your medical team for its administration and follow their instructions precisely.
