Take it as prescribed, swallowing the sustained-release tablet whole — do not crush or chew it. Take doses earlier in the day to reduce sleep problems, and space them as directed.

There is a small, dose-related risk of seizures. Do not exceed the prescribed dose, and tell your doctor if you have a history of seizures, an eating disorder, or heavy alcohol use — do not drink alcohol while taking it.

For mood, it usually takes a few weeks. For stopping smoking, treatment is started before your quit date and continued as directed. Do not stop on your own.

Watch for new or worsening mood changes, agitation, or thoughts of self-harm, especially early in treatment or after a dose change, and report these to the doctor immediately.

Tell your doctor about any seizures, head injury, eating disorder, high blood pressure, liver or kidney problems, or if pregnant/breastfeeding, and all other medicines — bupropion interacts with several drugs.
