Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them.

Other medical conditions and interactions
Inform your doctorBefore using Carvistar 6.25, inform your doctor if you have asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, diabetes, thyroid disorders, peripheral vascular disease, certain heart rhythm problems, or a history of severe allergic reactions.
CARVISTAR 6.25MG TABLET 15'S needs to be taken regularly as directed by your doctor. Suddenly stopping it may cause chest pain or heart attack. Your doctor may slowly lower your dose over a period of time before stopping it completely if required.
Yes, CARVISTAR 6.25MG TABLET 15'S may make you tired as well as dizzy. These may occur initially when you start the treatment or when the dose is increased. If you experience these symptoms you should not drive or operate machinery.
Yes, weight gain is a common side effect of CARVISTAR 6.25MG TABLET 15'S, but it does not occur in everyone. If you are taking CARVISTAR 6.25MG TABLET 15'S for heart failure, tell your doctor if you gain weight or have trouble breathing, as this may be a sign of fluid retention.
Use of CARVISTAR 6.25MG TABLET 15'S in patients with heart failure can rarely lead to deterioration of kidney function. However, CARVISTAR 6.25MG TABLET 15'S may cause risk of kidney failure in patients with low blood pressure (systolic blood pressure less than 100 mm Hg), patients with hardening of the arteries and/or having heart disease, or already have impaired kidney function. Such patients should be closely monitored during treatment with CARVISTAR 6.25MG TABLET 15'S. Although, kidney functions return to baseline when CARVISTAR 6.25MG TABLET 15'S is stopped.
Yes, a diabetic patient can take CARVISTAR 6.25MG TABLET 15'S, provided that there is a regular check on blood glucose levels. It has been noted that in well-controlled diabetes mellitus with mild to moderate hypertension, CARVISTAR 6.25MG TABLET 15'S did not have any effect on blood glucose levels. However, it is important to know that, using CARVISTAR 6.25MG TABLET 15'S class of medicines (beta-blockers) may hide the symptoms of hypoglycemia (decrease in glucose levels), especially an increase in heartbeat or palpitations. In addition to that, CARVISTAR 6.25MG TABLET 15'S may cause worsening of hyperglycemia (increase in blood glucose levels) in patients with heart failure and diabetes. Hence, it is recommended that blood glucose should be monitored while initiating, adjusting, or discontinuing the dose of CARVISTAR 6.25MG TABLET 15'S. Inform the doctor if there is any change in blood glucose levels during CARVISTAR 6.25MG TABLET 15'S therapy.
It is recommended that you take CARVISTAR 6.25MG TABLET 15'S with food, as food decreases the rate at which the medicine gets absorbed by the body. This will help to reduce the chances of orthostatic hypotension (low blood pressure which may cause dizziness or fainting when you stand up).
CARVISTAR 6.25MG TABLET 15'S may cause serious side effects such as fainting, shortness of breath, weight gain, swelling of the arms, hands, feet, ankles, or lower legs. Some may also experience chest pain, slow or irregular heartbeat, rash, hives, itching, and difficulty in breathing and swallowing. If you experience any of these symptoms call your doctor immediately.
If you take more than the recommended dose of CARVISTAR 6.25MG TABLET 15'S you may experience slow heartbeat, dizziness, fainting, difficulty breathing, vomiting, and loss of consciousness or seizures. Contact your doctor and seek immediate medical help in a nearby hospital.
CARVISTAR 6.25MG TABLET 15'S should be avoided if the patient has severe heart failure and is hospitalized in the intensive care unit or require certain intravenous medications that help support circulation (inotropic medications). In addition to that, CARVISTAR 6.25MG TABLET 15'S should be avoided in patients who are prone to asthma or other breathing problems, have a slow heartbeat or irregular heartbeat, have liver problems, and are allergic to CARVISTAR 6.25MG TABLET 15'S.
Carvistar 6.25 contains carvedilol, a beta-blocker used mainly to treat high blood pressure, chronic heart failure, and to improve long-term outcomes after certain types of heart attack. By lowering blood pressure and reducing the workload on the heart, it helps decrease the risk of cardiovascular complications such as stroke, heart attack, and worsening heart failure, when used as part of a comprehensive treatment plan.
Carvistar 6.25 works by blocking beta-1 and beta-2 adrenergic receptors in the heart and blood vessels, which slows the heart rate and reduces the force of contraction. It also blocks alpha-1 receptors in blood vessels, causing them to relax and widen. The combined effect lowers blood pressure, decreases the heart’s oxygen demand, and improves overall cardiac efficiency, which is beneficial in hypertension and heart failure.
Carvistar 6.25 should be taken exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually by mouth with water. It is often recommended to take carvedilol with food to reduce the risk of dizziness or a sudden drop in blood pressure, especially when starting treatment or increasing the dose. Do not change the timing, frequency, or number of tablets without consulting your healthcare provider, and do not stop the medicine abruptly.
You should not stop Carvistar 6.25 on your own, even if you feel well. Stopping beta-blockers suddenly can lead to a rebound increase in blood pressure, worsening chest pain, or deterioration of heart failure. If your doctor decides that the medicine should be discontinued, the dose is usually reduced gradually over several days to weeks under close supervision.
Common side effects include dizziness, tiredness, slow heart rate, low blood pressure, headache, nausea, diarrhea, and cold hands or feet. Some people may experience mild weight gain or swelling of the ankles due to fluid retention. These effects are often more noticeable when treatment is started or when the dose is increased. If side effects are severe, persistent, or worrying, contact your doctor promptly.
Carvedilol can potentially worsen breathing problems because it blocks beta-2 receptors in the airways. In patients with asthma or severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, it is generally used with great caution or may be avoided. If you have any history of wheezing, asthma, or chronic lung disease, inform your doctor before starting Carvistar 6.25. Seek urgent medical attention if you develop new or worsening shortness of breath or wheezing.
Carvedilol does not usually cause major changes in blood sugar by itself, but it can mask some of the warning symptoms of low blood sugar, such as palpitations and tremor, especially in people with diabetes taking insulin or other antidiabetic medicines. Sweating and dizziness may still occur. If you have diabetes, monitor your blood glucose regularly and inform your doctor about any unusual readings or symptoms.
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember unless it is almost time for your next scheduled dose. If it is close to the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one, as this may cause excessive lowering of heart rate or blood pressure. If you are unsure, seek advice from your doctor or pharmacist.
Alcohol can enhance the blood pressure-lowering effect of Carvistar 6.25 and may increase the risk of dizziness, fainting, or light-headedness, particularly when standing up. It is generally advisable to limit or avoid alcohol while on this medicine. If you choose to drink, do so cautiously and be aware of how you feel, especially when starting treatment or after dose changes.
Carvistar 6.25 is usually not recommended in people with severe bradycardia (very slow heart rate), certain types of heart block without a pacemaker, cardiogenic shock, uncontrolled heart failure with fluid overload, severe liver impairment, or a known allergy to carvedilol or any component of the tablet. It should also be used cautiously in patients with asthma, severe peripheral vascular disease, or untreated pheochromocytoma. A full medical evaluation is necessary before starting therapy.
Use of Carvistar 6.25 during pregnancy or breastfeeding requires careful risk–benefit assessment by a doctor. Beta-blockers can affect blood flow to the placenta and may influence fetal growth, and small amounts of carvedilol may pass into breast milk. Do not start or continue this medicine in pregnancy or while breastfeeding without discussing it with your obstetrician or cardiologist, who may adjust therapy or choose an alternative if needed.
