About CHESTON COLD TABLET 10'S

  • Cheston Cold Tablet 10's is a prescription combination medicine marketed in India by Cipla Pharmaceutical Company Limited. Each tablet contains cetirizine 5 mg, paracetamol (acetaminophen) 325 mg and phenylephrine 10 mg.
  • Cetirizine is a second-generation antihistamine that relieves sneezing, a runny nose and watery eyes with less sedation than older antihistamines, paracetamol relieves pain and reduces fever, and phenylephrine is a decongestant that eases nasal stuffiness. Cheston Cold is used for the short-term relief of symptoms of the common cold and similar upper respiratory conditions, and does not treat the underlying viral infection or shorten its course.

Uses of CHESTON COLD TABLET 10'S

  • Relief of nasal congestion associated with the common cold
  • Relief of runny nose and sneezing
  • Relief of headache, body ache and fever associated with a cold

How CHESTON COLD TABLET 10'S Works

  • Cetirizine blocks histamine H1 receptors, reducing the sneezing, runny nose and watery eyes caused by an allergic or cold-related histamine response. Being a second-generation antihistamine, it generally causes less drowsiness than older antihistamines, though some people can still feel sedated.
  • Paracetamol works mainly within the central nervous system to reduce the sensation of pain and lower fever. Phenylephrine narrows blood vessels in the nasal passages, reducing swelling and congestion so that breathing through the nose becomes easier. Together, these three ingredients address the pain, fever, congestion and allergic-type symptoms that commonly accompany a cold.

Side Effects of CHESTON COLD TABLET 10'SArrow

Drowsiness, dry mouth, headache and nausea are the most commonly reported effects. Palpitations, increased blood pressure and difficulty sleeping have also been reported, related to the decongestant component. Signs of a severe allergic reaction, such as facial or throat swelling, a widespread rash or breathing difficulty, need immediate medical attention. Yellowing of the skin or eyes, dark urine, or persistent nausea and vomiting need prompt medical attention, since these can indicate liver injury from excess paracetamol.

Safety Advice for CHESTON COLD TABLET 10'SArrow

pregnancy

Pregnancy

Consult your doctor

Cold tablets often combine several active ingredients, and safety in pregnancy depends on each component and the stage of pregnancy. While paracetamol is generally considered the first-line option for fever and pain in pregnancy when used at recommended doses, decongestants and some antihistamines may not be preferred, especially in the first trimester.

breast_feeding

BreastFeeding

Consult your doctor

Small amounts of many cold tablet components, including paracetamol and certain antihistamines or decongestants, can pass into breast milk. While paracetamol is generally compatible with breastfeeding at usual doses, some antihistamines may cause infant drowsiness or irritability, and decongestants may potentially reduce milk supply in some women.

alcohol

Alcohol

Avoid

Alcohol intake should be avoided while taking cold tablets, particularly those containing paracetamol and sedating antihistamines. Alcohol can increase the risk of liver toxicity associated with paracetamol, especially in people with pre-existing liver disease or chronic alcohol use.

Cardiovascular and Hypertension

Use with caution

Decongestants commonly found in cold tablets, such as phenylephrine or pseudoephedrine, can constrict blood vessels and may increase blood pressure and heart rate. This can be problematic in individuals with hypertension, coronary artery disease, arrhythmias, or a history of stroke.

Dosage of CHESTON COLD TABLET 10'SArrow

  • The dose and duration of treatment depend on the individual's age and symptoms and must be decided by the prescriber. The current recommendation should be followed, and this tablet should not be used for longer than advised without medical review.

What if I miss my dose of CHESTON COLD TABLET 10'S?Arrow

  • If you miss a dose of Cheston Cold Tablet, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not double your dose to make up for the missed one.

How to store CHESTON COLD TABLET 10'S?Arrow

  • Store the tablets in their original pack, at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture, and out of the reach of children and pets.

Benefits of CHESTON COLD TABLET 10'SArrow

  • Combining a less-sedating antihistamine, a pain-and-fever reliever, and a decongestant in a single tablet can simplify short-term relief of cold symptoms compared with taking separate medicines.
  • By easing congestion alongside pain, fever and sneezing, it can support more comfortable rest and daily activity during a cold, while the body's immune system clears the underlying infection.

How to use CHESTON COLD TABLET 10'SArrow

  • Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water, generally with or after food to reduce the chance of stomach upset. Do not crush, chew or break the tablet.

Quick Tips for CHESTON COLD TABLET 10'SArrow

  • Take with or after food to reduce the chance of stomach upset
  • Avoid other paracetamol-containing products while taking this tablet
  • Avoid alcohol during treatment
  • Avoid driving or operating machinery until it is known how this tablet affects alertness
  • Seek medical advice if symptoms persist beyond about a week or are accompanied by high fever or breathing difficulty
