How CLAVAM BID DRY SYRUP 30 ML Works

• Amoxicillin interferes with the enzymes bacteria use to build their cell wall, weakening it until the bacteria break apart and die. Some bacteria produce beta-lactamase, an enzyme that breaks down amoxicillin's structure and inactivates it before it can act.
• Clavulanic acid binds to beta-lactamase and blocks it, protecting amoxicillin from being destroyed and restoring its effectiveness against bacteria that would otherwise resist it. This combination broadens the range of bacteria the syrup can treat compared with amoxicillin used alone.

Nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea and abdominal pain are the most commonly reported effects. Skin rash, indigestion, dizziness and headache have also been reported. Signs of a severe allergic reaction, such as facial or throat swelling, difficulty breathing, or hives, need immediate medical attention. Yellowing of the skin or eyes, dark urine, or severe or bloody diarrhoea also need prompt medical attention, since these can indicate liver injury or a serious bowel infection.

• If you miss a dose of CLAVAM BID DRY SYRUP 30 ML, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not double the dose to catch up.

• Store the unopened powder in its original pack, below 25°C unless the pack states otherwise, away from direct sunlight and moisture, and out of the reach of children. Once reconstituted, store as directed on the label, generally in a refrigerator, and use within the stated period.

• Complete the full prescribed course, even if feeling better before it is finished
• Shake the bottle well and measure the dose with the device provided

• Tell the prescriber about any penicillin allergy or liver or kidney condition before starting
• Seek urgent medical attention for facial swelling, breathing difficulty, or yellowing of the skin or eyes

• Clavam BID can be given with or without food, though giving it with food may help reduce the chance of stomach upset.
