How CLENZ AC TOPICAL GEL 15 GM Works

• Acne develops when hair follicles block with oil and dead skin cells and the bacterium Cutibacterium acnes multiplies inside them, triggering inflammation.
• Benzoyl peroxide releases oxygen that kills these bacteria and has a mild peeling effect that helps clear blocked pores. Bacteria cannot become resistant to it. Clindamycin blocks protein production inside the bacteria, which stops them growing and reduces the inflammation they cause. Benzoyl peroxide also helps prevent bacteria from becoming resistant to clindamycin.

Dryness, peeling, redness, a burning or stinging feeling and itching at the application site are common, especially in the first few weeks. Skin can also become more sensitive to sunlight. Benzoyl peroxide bleaches hair, clothing, towels and bedding, so contact with fabrics should be avoided. Clindamycin has been linked with diarrhoea and colitis, an inflammation of the bowel, even when used on the skin. Severe or bloody diarrhoea or abdominal cramps mean the gel should be stopped and a doctor seen straight away. Allergic reactions, including swelling of the face or difficulty breathing, need emergency care.

• Apply CLENZ AC Topical Gel as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next application, skip the missed one and continue with your regular schedule. Do not apply a double dose to make up for a missed one.

• Store the tube with the cap tightly closed in a cool place, away from direct sunlight and heat, and follow the storage instruction printed on the current Sun Pharma pack. Keep it out of the reach of children, and do not use it after the expiry date.

• Apply a thin layer to the whole affected area, not just spots
• Use a gentle, non-comedogenic moisturiser if skin becomes dry
• Wear sunscreen during treatment
• Keep the gel away from hair, clothes and coloured towels
• Stop and see a doctor for severe or bloody diarrhoea
• Expect improvement over several weeks, not days
