Allergies
UnsafeDo not take CLOPITAB CV if you are allergic to Clopidogrel, Atorvastatin, or any of its ingredients.
It's a combination medicine used to prevent blood clots and reduce the risk of heart attack, stroke, and other cardiovascular events in patients with certain heart conditions or those who have recently undergone stent placement.
It contains Clopidogrel (typically 75mg) and Atorvastatin (10mg).
Clopidogrel is an antiplatelet that prevents platelets from sticking together and forming harmful blood clots. Atorvastatin is a statin that lowers 'bad' cholesterol (LDL) and triglycerides, and raises 'good' cholesterol (HDL), thereby reducing the risk of plaque buildup in arteries.
The typical dosage is one tablet once daily, preferably at the same time each day. It should be taken as prescribed by your doctor.
No, you should never stop taking this medicine without consulting your doctor, even if you feel better. Abruptly stopping can increase your risk of heart attack or stroke.
Common side effects include headache, nausea, stomach pain, diarrhea, muscle pain, and increased bleeding tendency (e.g., easy bruising, nosebleeds).
If you experience severe or unexplained muscle pain, tenderness, or weakness, especially with fever or dark urine, contact your doctor immediately. This could be a sign of a rare but serious muscle condition (rhabdomyolysis) associated with Atorvastatin.
Serious side effects are rare but can include severe bleeding (e.g., stomach bleeding, brain hemorrhage), liver problems, severe allergic reactions, and the aforementioned muscle issues. Seek immediate medical attention if you experience any severe symptoms.
Yes, it can interact with many medications, including other blood thinners (e.g., Warfarin, Aspirin), antacids, certain antifungals, antibiotics, and medicines for HIV/AIDS. Always inform your doctor about all medications, supplements, and herbal products you are taking.
It is generally advisable to limit or avoid alcohol consumption, as excessive alcohol can increase the risk of liver problems, especially with Atorvastatin, and may also increase the risk of stomach bleeding with Clopidogrel.
Avoid consuming grapefruit or grapefruit juice as it can interact with Atorvastatin and increase the risk of side effects.
This medicine is generally not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding due to potential risks to the baby. Always consult your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding.
Store at room temperature (below 30°C) away from moisture and direct light. Keep it out of reach of children and pets.
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it's almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule. Do not double the dose to make up for a missed one.
In case of an overdose, seek immediate medical attention or contact a poison control center. Overdose can lead to increased bleeding, severe muscle pain, or liver dysfunction.
Yes, there are several other brands that contain Clopidogrel and Atorvastatin in various strengths, such as STORVAS CV, ATORVASTATIN PLUS CLOPIDOGREL, and CLOVAS CV. Always consult your doctor or pharmacist about suitable alternatives.
