Like all medicines, CLOPITORVA 20MG CAPSULE can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. It's important to be aware of these. **Common Side Effects (may affect up to 1 in 10 people):** * Headache, dizziness * Nausea, indigestion (dyspepsia), diarrhea, constipation, stomach pain * Muscle pain (myalgia), joint pain (arthralgia) * Nosebleeds, increased bruising or minor bleeding (e.g., gums, cuts) * Sore throat (nasopharyngitis), common cold symptoms * Fatigue, weakness **Uncommon or Serious Side Effects (may affect up to 1 in 100 people or less, require immediate medical attention):** * Severe bleeding (e.g., blood in urine or stool, black tarry stools, coughing up blood, prolonged bleeding from cuts) * Severe muscle pain, tenderness, or weakness (especially if accompanied by fever or dark urine) – these could be signs of rhabdomyolysis, a rare but serious muscle breakdown. * Liver problems (signs include yellowing of skin or eyes (jaundice), dark urine, pale stools, unusual tiredness) * Allergic reactions (rash, itching, swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat, difficulty breathing) * Pancreatitis (severe stomach pain, nausea, vomiting) * Memory loss, confusion * Numbness or tingling (peripheral neuropathy) * Sudden chest pain, difficulty breathing, or stroke-like symptoms (rare, but possible due to underlying conditions or complications) * Fever, skin rash, joint pain, and kidney problems (a rare condition called drug-induced lupus-like syndrome) * Thrombotic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (TTP) - a very rare but serious condition causing fever, tiny red spots under the skin, extreme tiredness, confusion, yellowing of skin/eyes. * Onset of diabetes (more likely if you have high levels of fats and sugars in your blood) Always consult your doctor or pharmacist if you experience any side effects, especially if they are severe, persistent, or if you notice any other effects not listed here. Do not stop taking the medicine without consulting your doctor.

Allergies
UnsafeDo not take if you have a known allergy to Clopidogrel, Atorvastatin, or any components of this medicine.
Clopitorva 20mg Capsule is a combination medicine primarily used to prevent heart attack and stroke. It is prescribed for patients at high risk of cardiovascular events, such as those with high cholesterol levels, a history of heart attack or stroke, or who have undergone stent placement.
Clopitorva 20mg Capsule contains two active ingredients: Clopidogrel (usually 75mg) and Atorvastatin (20mg). Clopidogrel is an antiplatelet agent, and Atorvastatin is a statin.
Clopitorva 20mg Capsule works by a dual mechanism. Clopidogrel prevents platelets from clumping together, reducing the formation of harmful blood clots. Atorvastatin lowers the levels of "bad" cholesterol (LDL) and triglycerides, while increasing "good" cholesterol (HDL), thus reducing plaque buildup in arteries.
The dosage of Clopitorva 20mg Capsule should be strictly followed as prescribed by your doctor. It is typically taken once daily, preferably at the same time each day, with or without food. Do not adjust the dose without consulting your doctor.
Common side effects may include nausea, stomach upset, diarrhea, headache, dizziness, and muscle pain. Minor bleeding (like nosebleeds or easy bruising) can also occur due to Clopidogrel. If these effects persist or worsen, consult your doctor.
Yes, serious side effects, though rare, can occur. These include severe bleeding (e.g., blood in urine or stool, unusual bleeding from gums/cuts), severe muscle pain or weakness (which could indicate rhabdomyolysis), liver problems (yellowing of skin/eyes, dark urine), and allergic reactions (rash, swelling, difficulty breathing). Seek immediate medical attention if you experience any of these.
Clopitorva 20mg Capsule can interact with several medications, increasing the risk of side effects or reducing its effectiveness. Avoid taking it with other blood thinners (e.g., Warfarin, Heparin), NSAIDs (e.g., Ibuprofen, Naproxen), certain antifungals, macrolide antibiotics, and some antacids. Always inform your doctor about all prescription, over-the-counter, and herbal supplements you are taking.
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember, unless it's almost time for your next scheduled dose. In that case, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.
In case of an overdose, seek immediate emergency medical attention. Symptoms of overdose may include increased risk of bleeding, severe muscle pain, dark urine, and confusion.
While taking Clopitorva 20mg Capsule, it is generally advised to avoid grapefruit and grapefruit juice, as they can interact with Atorvastatin and increase its levels in the body, leading to more side effects. Maintaining a healthy, low-fat, low-cholesterol diet is also recommended to support the medicine's cholesterol-lowering effects.
Clopitorva 20mg Capsule is generally contraindicated during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Atorvastatin can cause harm to the fetus, and both drugs may pass into breast milk. Always consult your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding.
Store Clopitorva 20mg Capsule at room temperature, away from direct light and moisture. Do not store it in the bathroom. Keep it out of reach of children and pets.
The duration of treatment with Clopitorva 20mg Capsule varies depending on your medical condition and risk factors. It is often a long-term, possibly lifelong, medication to continuously manage cholesterol levels and prevent blood clots. Do not stop taking it without consulting your doctor, even if you feel well.
Clopitorva 20mg Capsule is a specific brand name for a combination of Clopidogrel and Atorvastatin. There are other brands available in the market that contain the same active ingredients (e.g., Storvas CV, Lipikind CV, Aztor CV). While the active components are identical, there might be differences in inactive ingredients (excipients) or pricing. Consult your doctor or pharmacist if you have questions about switching brands.
Atorvastatin, one of the components of Clopitorva, can affect liver function. Your doctor may recommend regular blood tests to monitor liver enzymes. While Clopidogrel primarily affects bleeding, caution is advised in patients with severe kidney impairment. Always inform your doctor about any pre-existing liver or kidney conditions.
