CLOPIXOL ACUPHASE 50MG INJECTION 1 ML is an antipsychotic medicine that can cause various side effects, ranging from common to less frequent but potentially serious. Common side effects often include drowsiness, dizziness, dry mouth, blurred vision, constipation, and difficulty urinating. You might also experience weight gain, increased sweating, or symptoms like tremors, stiffness, or restlessness (extrapyramidal symptoms). Some people may feel dizzy when standing up (orthostatic hypotension) or experience nasal congestion, nausea, or vomiting. Less common but more serious side effects can include severe muscle stiffness with high fever (Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome), involuntary movements, especially of the face and tongue (tardive dyskinesia), seizures, or significant changes in blood sugar. It's also important to watch for signs of heart problems (like irregular heartbeat), liver issues, or severe allergic reactions such as rash, itching, or swelling. In rare cases, blood disorders or blood clots may occur. Always report any new or worsening side effects to your doctor immediately.

Allergies
UnsafeDo not use Clopixol Acuphase 50mg Injection if you are allergic to zuclopenthixol or any of its ingredients.
CLOPIXOL ACUPHASE 50MG INJECTION 1 ML is primarily used for the rapid initial control of acute psychosis, manic states, or severe agitation and aggression, especially in patients who are acutely agitated and require rapid tranquilization.
The active ingredient in CLOPIXOL ACUPHASE 50MG INJECTION is Zuclopenthixol Acetate.
Zuclopenthixol Acetate works by blocking dopamine receptors in the brain, which helps to reduce symptoms like hallucinations, delusions, and agitation associated with psychotic disorders.
CLOPIXOL ACUPHASE is a rapid-acting injection, typically starting to show effects within 1-2 hours after administration, with peak effects often seen within 2-3 days.
Common side effects may include drowsiness, dizziness, dry mouth, blurred vision, constipation, urinary retention, and extrapyramidal symptoms (like tremors, muscle stiffness, or restless movements).
Serious side effects are rare but can include Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome (NMS - characterized by fever, muscle rigidity, altered mental status), severe allergic reactions, and QT prolongation (a heart rhythm disorder). Seek immediate medical attention if these occur.
It should not be given to individuals with severe central nervous system depression, coma, circulatory collapse, or known hypersensitivity to zuclopenthixol or other thioxanthenes. It's also generally avoided in patients with certain heart conditions.
It is generally not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding unless the potential benefits outweigh the risks, as it can cross the placenta and be excreted in breast milk. Always consult your doctor.
It is administered by intramuscular injection, typically into the gluteal muscle, by a healthcare professional. It is not for intravenous use.
In case of a suspected overdose, which may manifest as severe drowsiness, coma, seizures, or severe extrapyramidal symptoms, seek immediate medical attention or go to the nearest emergency room.
Yes, it can interact with central nervous system depressants (like alcohol, opioids), drugs that prolong the QT interval, antidepressants, antiepileptics, and anticholinergic drugs. Always inform your doctor about all medications you are taking.
It should be stored at room temperature, away from light and moisture. Do not freeze. Keep out of reach of children.
CLOPIXOL ACUPHASE is not considered addictive in the same way as opioids or benzodiazepines. However, sudden discontinuation after long-term use can lead to withdrawal-like symptoms, so dosage should be tapered under medical supervision.
The rapid tranquilizing effect of a single injection typically lasts for 2-3 days. Subsequent doses or transition to oral medication are usually planned based on the patient's condition.
No, due to the potential for drowsiness, dizziness, and impaired judgment, you should not drive or operate heavy machinery after receiving this injection.
CLOPIXOL ACUPHASE (zuclopenthixol acetate) is a rapid-acting formulation used for acute control, with effects lasting a few days. CLOPIXOL DEPOT (zuclopenthixol decanoate) is a long-acting injectable used for maintenance treatment of chronic psychosis, with effects lasting weeks, administered less frequently.
