How COLICAID DROPS 15 ML Works

• Simethicone lowers the surface tension of the small gas bubbles trapped within the digestive contents, causing them to merge into larger bubbles. These larger bubbles are more easily passed as burping or flatulence.
• Because it does not prevent gas from forming but only helps it merge and pass more easily, and because it acts locally without being absorbed into the bloodstream, simethicone is generally well tolerated, including in infants and children.
• Simethicone is chemically inert and passes through the digestive tract unchanged, leaving the body in the stool. This purely physical mode of action is why it does not interact meaningfully with other medicines and can be used across a wide range of ages.

Side effects are uncommon, since simethicone is not absorbed into the body. Mild stomach upset or loose stools have occasionally been reported. An allergic reaction is rare but needs immediate medical attention if a rash, swelling or breathing difficulty occurs.
