Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them.

Sun exposure and skin
Use protective measuresCordarone 100 can cause photosensitivity, making the skin more prone to sunburn and, with long‑term use, may lead to bluish‑grey skin discoloration in sun‑exposed areas.
Heart rate may decrease markedly in elderly patients. Patients receiving hepatitis C medicines with amiodarone may suffer from symptoms of bradycardia and heart block. In such cases, the seek urgent medical advice.
CORDARONE 100MG TABLET 15'S blocks certain electrical signals in the heart that can cause an irregular heartbeat (arrhythmia). This way, it helps to restore normal heart rhythm and maintains a regular, steady heartbeat.
The warning signals of liver toxicity include yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice), tiredness, nausea, vomiting, dark-colored urine, pale-colored stools, loss of appetite, stomach pain or high temperature. Contact your doctor immediately if you experience these symptoms.
CORDARONE 100MG TABLET 15'S is generally safe to use. However, you should take it in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. It may cause some side effects that are temporary and usually resolve on their own. Your doctor will tell you ways to cope up with them.
You may experience blurred vision or see a circle around dazzling light (halos). It may also make your eyes dry or sensitive to light. It can even cause permanent blindness. Therefore, consult your doctor in case you experience any such problems while on CORDARONE 100MG TABLET 15'S.
Cordarone 100 (amiodarone) is used for the treatment and prevention of serious heart rhythm disorders (arrhythmias). It is commonly prescribed for atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter, certain supraventricular tachycardias, and life‑threatening ventricular arrhythmias such as ventricular tachycardia or ventricular fibrillation, particularly when other antiarrhythmic medicines are ineffective, not tolerated, or unsuitable. Its use is usually supervised by a cardiologist or a physician experienced in managing complex arrhythmias.
No. Cordarone 100 is not intended for mild, occasional, or benign palpitations in otherwise healthy individuals. It is reserved for clinically significant arrhythmias that may be symptomatic, persistent, or potentially life‑threatening. Because it can cause serious side effects and interacts with many medicines, it should not be used for self‑diagnosed palpitations or simple extrasystoles. A proper cardiac evaluation, including ECG and clinical assessment, is required before considering Cordarone 100.
Cordarone 100 contains amiodarone, which mainly acts as a class III antiarrhythmic agent. It prolongs the cardiac action potential and refractory period, thereby slowing abnormal electrical conduction and reducing the likelihood of re‑entry circuits that cause arrhythmias. It also has additional properties similar to class I, II, and IV antiarrhythmics, including effects on sodium channels, beta‑adrenergic receptors, and calcium channels. The combined actions help stabilize the heart rhythm in selected patients.
The onset of effect of oral Cordarone 100 can vary. In some patients, improvement in rhythm control may be seen within days, while in others it may take several weeks, especially when lower maintenance doses are used after an initial period of higher dosing. Because amiodarone has a long half‑life and accumulates in tissues, its full therapeutic effect and steady‑state levels may take time to develop. The exact timing depends on the dosing regimen and individual patient factors, and is determined by the treating physician.
You should not stop Cordarone 100 on your own, even if your heart rhythm feels normal. Arrhythmias may recur if the medicine is discontinued abruptly or without medical supervision. Additionally, because amiodarone remains in the body for a long time, your doctor may adjust or taper treatment based on ECG findings, symptoms, and risk of recurrence rather than on how you feel alone. Any decision to stop or change therapy must be made by your healthcare provider.
Commonly reported side effects of Cordarone 100 include nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, metallic or altered taste, constipation, tremor, sleep disturbances, fatigue, and photosensitivity (increased sensitivity to sunlight). Long‑term use can lead to more serious effects such as thyroid dysfunction (overactive or underactive thyroid), liver enzyme elevation or hepatitis, lung toxicity (including pneumonitis or pulmonary fibrosis), corneal microdeposits, visual disturbances, skin discoloration, and peripheral neuropathy. Any new or worsening symptoms should be reported promptly to a doctor.
Yes. Amiodarone in Cordarone 100 contains iodine and can significantly affect thyroid function. It may cause hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid) or hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid). Symptoms can include unexplained weight change, intolerance to cold or heat, fatigue, palpitations, tremor, anxiety, or changes in bowel habits. Thyroid function tests are usually checked before starting treatment and periodically during therapy. If thyroid abnormalities are detected, your doctor will decide whether to adjust the dose, treat the thyroid condition, or discontinue amiodarone.
Yes. Cordarone 100 has multiple clinically important drug–drug interactions. It can interact with anticoagulants (such as warfarin), digoxin, certain beta‑blockers, calcium channel blockers, statins, other antiarrhythmics, some antidepressants, certain antibiotics, and medicines that prolong the QT interval, among others. These interactions may increase the risk of arrhythmias, bleeding, bradycardia, or organ toxicity. Always inform your doctor and pharmacist about all prescription medicines, over‑the‑counter products, and herbal supplements you are taking before starting Cordarone 100.
Cordarone 100 can be used long term when the expected benefit in controlling serious arrhythmias outweighs the risks, but it requires careful and regular monitoring. Long‑term therapy is associated with an increased likelihood of adverse effects involving the lungs, liver, thyroid, eyes, skin, and nervous system. Periodic clinical review, ECGs, and laboratory tests are essential. If significant toxicity develops, your doctor may reduce the dose, switch to an alternative therapy, or discontinue amiodarone, taking into account the risk of arrhythmia recurrence.
If you miss a dose of Cordarone 100, take it as soon as you remember unless it is almost time for your next scheduled dose. If it is close to the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one. Because of the long half‑life of amiodarone, a single missed dose is unlikely to cause immediate loss of effect, but repeated missed doses may reduce rhythm control. Inform your doctor if you frequently forget doses.
Use of Cordarone 100 during pregnancy is generally not recommended unless the potential benefit to the mother clearly outweighs the potential risk to the fetus, and then only under specialist supervision. Amiodarone can cross the placenta and may affect fetal thyroid function and development. If you are pregnant, think you may be pregnant, or are planning to conceive, you must discuss this with your cardiologist or obstetrician before starting or continuing Cordarone 100. Alternative treatments may be considered where appropriate.
