How CYCLOPAM TABLET 10'S Works

• The two ingredients tackle pain from different angles. Dicyclomine is an anticholinergic/antispasmodic: it blocks the nerve signals that cause the smooth muscle of the gut to contract sharply, relaxing these muscles and stopping the painful spasms and cramping. Paracetamol relieves pain by reducing the production of certain chemical messengers (prostaglandins) in the brain that signal pain and raise body temperature. Combining an antispasmodic with a painkiller gives more complete relief of cramp-type abdominal pain than either alone.

Common (mostly from dicyclomine's anticholinergic action): dry mouth, blurred vision, drowsiness, dizziness, nausea, and constipation. Some people feel weak or nervous. Others: difficulty passing urine, reduced sweating (which can raise body temperature in hot weather), and, occasionally, a fast heartbeat. Serious (seek medical attention): signs of an allergic reaction (rash, swelling of face/lips, difficulty breathing); confusion or hallucinations (more likely in the elderly); severe constipation or inability to urinate. Note: exceeding the recommended paracetamol dose can seriously harm the liver — never take more than directed, and avoid other paracetamol-containing products at the same time.
