Common: nausea, headache, breast tenderness, weight changes, mood changes, and breakthrough bleeding. Serious (seek medical attention): signs of a blood clot — pain or swelling in one leg, chest pain, sudden breathlessness, or sudden severe headache, weakness, or vision changes; yellowing of the skin/eyes; or a serious allergic reaction. The clot risk is higher than with some standard contraceptive pills.
Take one tablet daily following the pack directions and cycle, at about the same time each day. Follow your doctor's instructions on starting and any break between packs.
Avoid it if you have a history of blood clots, certain migraines, some cancers, significant liver disease, or high clot risk. The risk of clots is higher if you smoke, especially over 35 — so smoking should be avoided.
Report leg pain/swelling, chest pain, breathlessness, severe headache, vision changes, or yellowing of the skin/eyes urgently — these can signal a clot or liver problem.
It is usually used until acne/hair symptoms are well controlled, then reviewed. It is not intended for long-term use once symptoms resolve. Do not drink alcohol to excess.
Yes, it provides contraception while taken correctly, but it is prescribed mainly for acne/androgen symptoms. Tell your doctor if you are or may be pregnant — it must not be used in pregnancy.
