Common, especially early in treatment: nausea, dry mouth, dizziness, sweating, constipation, reduced appetite, sleepiness or difficulty sleeping (insomnia), and reduced sex drive or sexual difficulties. Many of these ease over the first weeks. Others: raised blood pressure, headache, tremor, and feeling anxious or restless. Serious (seek medical attention): new or worsening depression, agitation, or thoughts of self-harm or suicide — antidepressants can increase these, particularly in people under 25 and in the first weeks or after a dose change; serotonin syndrome (agitation, fast heartbeat, high temperature, muscle stiffness, shivering — more likely if combined with other serotonergic drugs); unusual bruising or bleeding; and signs of an allergic reaction. Report these promptly.
Take one tablet once a day at about the same time each day, with or without food. Swallow it whole with water — do not crush, chew, split, or dissolve it, as this releases the medicine too quickly. You may notice an inactive shell of the tablet in your stool; this is normal.
It usually takes a couple of weeks for early benefits and often 4–6 weeks for the full effect. Keep taking it even if you don't feel a difference at first, and do not stop on your own. Continue for as long as your doctor advises, often several months, to prevent relapse.
No. Stopping abruptly can cause discontinuation symptoms such as dizziness, headache, tingling or "electric shock" sensations, irritability, and sleep problems. If it needs to be stopped, your doctor will reduce the dose gradually. Never stop on your own.
No. You should not drink alcohol while on D VENTEZ. Alcohol can worsen depression, increase drowsiness and dizziness, and interfere with your treatment.
Tell your doctor about high blood pressure, heart, liver, or kidney problems, glaucoma, bleeding tendencies, seizures, bipolar disorder, or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. List all other medicines — especially other antidepressants, MAO inhibitors, triptans for migraine, tramadol, and blood thinners — as combining them can be dangerous. Report any new or worsening mood changes or thoughts of self-harm to your doctor immediately.
