Other medical conditions and drug interactions
Use with medical supervisionCaution is advised in patients with uncontrolled hypertension, ischemic heart disease, arrhythmias, anxiety disorders, or insomnia, as the caffeine component may exacerbate these conditions.
Dart Tablet is a combination analgesic generally used for short-term relief of mild to moderate pain, such as tension headache, migraine, toothache, musculoskeletal pain, and pain associated with feverish conditions. It helps reduce pain and fever but is not a treatment for the underlying cause of the symptoms.
Dart Tablet typically contains paracetamol (acetaminophen), propylphenazone, and caffeine. Paracetamol and propylphenazone provide analgesic and antipyretic effects, while caffeine is a mild central nervous system stimulant that may enhance pain relief and reduce drowsiness. Exact strengths can vary by manufacturer and country; always check the specific product label.
Paracetamol and propylphenazone act mainly in the central nervous system to reduce the perception of pain and lower fever. Paracetamol is thought to inhibit prostaglandin synthesis in the brain, while propylphenazone is a pyrazolone derivative with analgesic and antipyretic properties. Caffeine can enhance the analgesic effect of these drugs and counteract fatigue, which may improve overall symptom relief in some patients.
In some regions, Dart Tablet or similar combinations may be available without a prescription, while in others it may be restricted. Even if it is available over the counter, it should be used strictly according to the package instructions and not for prolonged periods. People with liver disease, kidney disease, heart disease, hypertension, blood disorders, or those taking multiple medicines should consult a healthcare professional before use.
Dart Tablet is not intended for long-term or continuous daily use. Prolonged or frequent use of combination analgesics can increase the risk of liver damage (due to paracetamol), rare but serious blood disorders (linked to pyrazolone derivatives such as propylphenazone), medication-overuse headache, and other adverse effects. If you need pain relief for more than a few days at a time or very frequently, you should seek medical evaluation rather than continuing Dart Tablet on your own.
No, Dart Tablet should not be taken together with other medicines that contain paracetamol (acetaminophen), such as many cold, flu, and pain remedies. Combining such products can lead to unintentional overdose of paracetamol and serious liver injury. Always check the labels of all medicines you are using and ask a pharmacist or doctor if you are unsure.
Commonly reported side effects may include nausea, stomach discomfort, heartburn, mild dizziness, restlessness, or difficulty sleeping, which are often related to caffeine. Most people tolerate the medicine well when used as directed. However, serious side effects such as allergic reactions, skin rash, breathing difficulty, severe abdominal pain, dark urine, jaundice, or signs of infection (fever, sore throat, mouth ulcers) require immediate medical attention and discontinuation of the medicine.
Use of Dart Tablet during pregnancy is not routinely recommended without medical supervision. While paracetamol is commonly used in pregnancy when clearly needed, the combination with propylphenazone and caffeine introduces additional considerations, including potential effects on the fetus and maternal safety. Pregnant women should consult their obstetrician or healthcare provider before using Dart Tablet, and alternative single-ingredient options may be preferred.
Paracetamol passes into breast milk in small amounts and is generally considered compatible with breastfeeding when used alone at recommended doses. However, Dart Tablet also contains propylphenazone and caffeine, both of which can pass into breast milk. Caffeine may cause irritability or sleep disturbance in the breastfed infant, and safety data for propylphenazone in lactation are limited. Therefore, breastfeeding women should seek medical advice before using Dart Tablet, and a simpler analgesic regimen may be recommended.
Dart Tablet is usually taken on an as-needed basis for pain or fever rather than on a fixed schedule, so a missed dose is not typically relevant. If you are using it according to a doctor’s specific instructions and miss a dose, take it when you remember if you still need pain relief, but do not double the next dose or exceed the maximum daily limit. If pain persists, consult your healthcare provider.
Overdose, especially due to excess paracetamol, may initially cause nonspecific symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, sweating, and abdominal discomfort. Serious liver damage can develop within 24–72 hours and may present with right upper abdominal pain, dark urine, jaundice, confusion, or drowsiness. Very high doses of caffeine can cause agitation, rapid heartbeat, tremors, and insomnia. Any suspected overdose, even if you feel well, requires immediate emergency medical attention, as early treatment is critical to reduce the risk of permanent liver injury.
