DAXID 100MG TABLET 15'S belongs to selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) class of medicines. It increases the levels of serotonin which is an important chemical and a neurotransmitter. This increase in serotonin levels can help to improve and regulate your mood, resulting in an improvement in the symptoms of anxiety.
No, you should not stop taking DAXID 100MG TABLET 15'S without consulting your doctor. This is because sudden discontinuation of DAXID 100MG TABLET 15'S may cause withdrawal symptoms. Hence, it is important to gradually reduce the dose with time (over several weeks or months).
The withdrawal symptoms of DAXID 100MG TABLET 15'S include dizziness, nausea, numbness or tingling in the hands or feet, trouble sleeping, feeling agitated or anxious, headaches and shaking. However, these symptoms are generally mild to moderate and disappear after 1-2 weeks of discontinuing DAXID 100MG TABLET 15'S.

Daxid 100 is a prescription antidepressant medicine that contains sertraline as its active ingredient. Sertraline is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) used to treat conditions such as major depressive disorder, obsessive–compulsive disorder, panic disorder, social anxiety disorder, and post‑traumatic stress disorder, as determined by a qualified healthcare professional.
Daxid 100 works by selectively inhibiting the reuptake of serotonin, a neurotransmitter, into nerve cells in the brain. This increases serotonin levels in the synaptic space and enhances serotonergic neurotransmission. Over time, these changes help improve mood, reduce anxiety, and alleviate symptoms such as intrusive thoughts or panic attacks in susceptible individuals.
Some people may notice partial improvement in symptoms such as sleep, appetite, or energy within 1–2 weeks of starting Daxid 100, but full therapeutic benefit often requires 4–6 weeks or longer. The exact time frame varies between individuals and depends on the condition being treated, the dose prescribed, and other personal factors. Treatment should not be stopped prematurely without consulting the prescribing doctor.
Daxid 100 should not be stopped abruptly without medical advice, even if you feel better. Sudden discontinuation of sertraline can lead to withdrawal‑like symptoms such as dizziness, irritability, anxiety, headache, nausea, sleep disturbance, and flu‑like complaints. If your doctor decides that treatment should be stopped, the dose is usually reduced gradually over time to minimize these effects.
Common side effects of Daxid 100 include nausea, diarrhea, indigestion, dry mouth, headache, dizziness, increased sweating, tremor, fatigue, and sleep disturbances such as insomnia or drowsiness. Sexual side effects, including reduced libido, delayed ejaculation, or difficulty achieving orgasm, may also occur. Many side effects are mild and may lessen with continued use, but persistent or severe symptoms should be reported to your doctor.
Serious but less common risks of Daxid 100 include serotonin syndrome (characterized by agitation, confusion, rapid heart rate, fever, muscle stiffness, and sweating), significant mood or behavior changes, suicidal thoughts or self‑harm (especially in younger patients), seizures, severe allergic reactions, and abnormal bleeding. If you or your caregivers notice sudden worsening of mood, unusual behavior, or symptoms suggestive of serotonin syndrome or allergy, seek urgent medical attention.
Daxid 100 can interact with other antidepressants, monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs), certain migraine medicines (such as triptans), lithium, tramadol, linezolid, and herbal products like St John’s wort. Combining these agents can increase the risk of serotonin syndrome or other adverse effects. You should inform your doctor and pharmacist about all prescription medicines, over‑the‑counter products, and herbal or dietary supplements you are using before starting Daxid 100.
Daxid 100 (sertraline) is not considered habit‑forming in the way that some sedatives or opioid pain medicines can be. However, the body can adapt to its presence, and abrupt discontinuation may cause withdrawal‑like symptoms. For this reason, it should be used only under medical supervision, and any dose changes or discontinuation should be done gradually according to your doctor’s instructions.
Alcohol is generally not recommended while taking Daxid 100. Both alcohol and sertraline can affect the central nervous system and may increase drowsiness, dizziness, impaired judgment, and risk‑taking behavior. Alcohol can also worsen underlying depression or anxiety and may interfere with the overall effectiveness of treatment. If you consume alcohol, discuss this with your doctor so that individualized advice can be provided.
If you miss a dose of Daxid 100, take it as soon as you remember unless it is almost time for your next scheduled dose. If it is close to the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten one, as this may increase the risk of side effects. If you frequently forget doses, speak with your healthcare provider about strategies to improve adherence.
The use of sertraline in children and adolescents depends on the specific indication, local regulatory approvals, and specialist guidance. In some settings, sertraline may be prescribed for conditions such as obsessive–compulsive disorder in younger patients, but careful monitoring is essential because of the potential for increased suicidal thoughts or behavior in this age group. Decisions about use in children or adolescents should be made only by a pediatric psychiatrist or similarly qualified specialist.
Daxid 100 can affect sexual function in some individuals. Reported effects include decreased sexual desire, difficulty achieving orgasm, and delayed ejaculation. These changes may persist while the medicine is being taken and usually improve after dose reduction or discontinuation, although this must be done under medical supervision. There is limited evidence that sertraline significantly impairs fertility at therapeutic doses, but any concerns about sexual function or family planning should be discussed with your doctor.
