How DERMIFORD OINTMENT 15 GM Works

• Clobetasol propionate reduces inflammation by acting as a potent topical corticosteroid. Miconazole is an antifungal medicine, neomycin is an antibiotic, and chlorhexidine is an antiseptic. Their actions do not make the combination effective against every skin infection. The clinician selects treatment based on the suspected or confirmed cause; the product should not be used to cover an uncertain diagnosis.

Topical clobetasol can cause burning, irritation or dryness. With excessive, prolonged or inappropriate use, potent topical corticosteroids can thin the skin, cause stretch marks or visible small blood vessels, alter skin colour, or mask and worsen infection. Absorption through the skin can increase when a large area is treated, skin is covered, or treatment is prolonged. Neomycin and other ingredients may cause local allergic reactions. A new rash, worsening redness, swelling, blistering or pain should be reviewed by a clinician. The risk depends on the site, area, skin condition, duration and exact formulation. Sensitive skin folds and the face can be more vulnerable to steroid effects. Use near the eyes or on mucous membranes should not occur unless specifically directed by the prescriber. The product should not be applied to a large area or covered with a dressing unless the clinician directs it.
