Digene Assorted Tablets are generally well-tolerated, but like all medications, they can cause side effects. Common side effects may include constipation (especially with prolonged use), diarrhea, a chalky taste in the mouth, nausea, vomiting, and stomach cramps. Rarely, some individuals might experience allergic reactions such as skin rash, itching, or swelling. If you experience severe or persistent side effects, or signs of an allergic reaction, discontinue use and consult your doctor immediately.

Allergies
CautionDo not take if you are allergic to any of its ingredients.
Digene Assorted Tablets are primarily used for quick and effective relief from acidity, heartburn, indigestion, gas, and stomach discomfort.
Digene tablets typically contain a combination of active ingredients such as Magnesium Hydroxide, Aluminium Hydroxide, and Simethicone, which work together as antacids and anti-flatulent agents.
Digene works by neutralizing excess stomach acid. Magnesium Hydroxide and Aluminium Hydroxide are antacids that chemically react with and reduce stomach acid, while Simethicone helps break down gas bubbles, reducing bloating and discomfort.
Digene is generally well-tolerated. However, some common side effects might include mild constipation (due to Aluminium Hydroxide), mild diarrhea (due to Magnesium Hydroxide), or a chalky taste. These are usually temporary and mild.
Chew 2 tablets after meals or whenever symptoms occur. Do not exceed 8 tablets in a 24-hour period. Always follow the dosage instructions on the pack or as advised by your doctor.
It is generally recommended to consult a doctor before taking Digene during pregnancy or breastfeeding, as individual circumstances and potential risks need to be assessed.
For children, it's best to consult a pediatrician regarding the appropriate dosage and suitability of Digene, as the formulation and dosage might differ for pediatric use.
Digene is an "as-needed" medication. If you miss a dose, simply take it when symptoms arise. There's no need to compensate for a missed dose if symptoms aren't present.
Antacids can interact with certain medications, affecting their absorption. It's advisable to take Digene at least 1-2 hours apart from other medicines, especially antibiotics (like tetracyclines, fluoroquinolones) and iron supplements. Consult your doctor or pharmacist.
Overdosing on Digene is unlikely to cause severe effects but might lead to increased side effects like more pronounced diarrhea or constipation. In case of significant overdose or unusual symptoms, seek medical attention.
Store Digene tablets in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture, at room temperature (below 30°C). Keep it out of reach of children.
Yes, Digene contains Simethicone, which is an anti-flatulent agent. It helps to break down gas bubbles in the stomach and intestines, providing relief from bloating and gas discomfort.
Digene is primarily for symptomatic relief of occasional acidity. Prolonged daily use without medical supervision is not recommended, as it might mask underlying conditions or lead to electrolyte imbalances. Consult a doctor for persistent symptoms.
Both Digene tablets and liquid provide relief from acidity and gas. The liquid form might offer slightly faster relief due to its immediate dispersion, while tablets are convenient for on-the-go use. The active ingredients are generally similar.
While taking Digene, it's generally good to avoid foods and drinks that trigger acidity, such as spicy foods, fatty foods, citrus fruits, caffeine, and carbonated beverages, to maximize its effectiveness and prevent recurrence of symptoms.
While many antacids serve a similar purpose, their active ingredients, potency, and side effect profiles can vary. Digene uses a combination of Magnesium Hydroxide, Aluminium Hydroxide, and Simethicone. Other brands might use different combinations or additional ingredients like Calcium Carbonate. Always check the ingredients list.
