How DISPRIN 325MG TABLET 10'S Works

• Aspirin blocks cyclo-oxygenase (COX), the enzyme that makes prostaglandins. Prostaglandins are chemical messengers that sensitise nerve endings to pain, drive inflammation and raise the body's temperature set point during a fever. With fewer prostaglandins, pain eases and temperature falls.
• Aspirin also blocks COX permanently in platelets, the blood cells that clump together to form clots, for the rest of each platelet's life. This is why aspirin increases bleeding. It is also why aspirin, at a doctor's direction, is used to lower the risk of heart attack and stroke.

Aspirin irritates the stomach lining and reduces the protective prostaglandins there. Indigestion, heartburn and nausea are the most common effects. Stomach ulcers and bleeding are less common but serious, and they are more likely in older adults, with longer use or higher doses, and with alcohol, steroids or other NSAIDs. Black or tarry stools, vomiting blood or vomit that looks like coffee grounds need urgent medical help. Aspirin can trigger wheezing or an asthma attack in people with aspirin-sensitive asthma, particularly those who also have nasal polyps. Allergic reactions, including rash, hives, swelling and difficulty breathing, need emergency treatment. Bruising and bleeding that takes longer to stop are expected effects of aspirin on platelets. Ringing in the ears is an early sign of taking too much.

• If you miss a dose of DISPRIN 325MG TABLET 10'S, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not double the dose to make up for the missed one.

• Store the strip in a cool, dry place, away from moisture and direct sunlight. Effervescent tablets absorb moisture, so each tablet should stay sealed in its strip until use. Keep the pack out of the reach of children, and do not use tablets after the expiry date.

• Dissolve the tablet fully in water before drinking
• Take it with or after food to protect the stomach
• Do not give it to anyone under 16 unless a doctor prescribes it
• Do not combine it with other painkillers containing aspirin or an NSAID without asking a pharmacist
• Avoid alcohol, which adds to the risk of stomach bleeding
• Tell the dentist or surgeon about recent aspirin use before any procedure
• See a doctor if pain or fever lasts more than a few days

• Taking Disprin with or after food reduces stomach irritation.
• Alcohol adds to the stomach-damaging effect of aspirin and increases the risk of stomach bleeding, so it is best avoided while taking Disprin.
