Allergies
Contraindicated in known hypersensitivityDuolin Respules should not be used by anyone with a known allergy to ipratropium, atropine or related anticholinergics, salbutamol, levosalbutamol, or any component of the formulation.
Duolin LD Respules is used to relieve symptoms of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), such as wheezing, shortness of breath, chest tightness, and coughing.
Duolin LD Respules contains two medicines: Levosalbutamol and Ipratropium. Levosalbutamol is a bronchodilator that relaxes the muscles in the airways and widens them. Ipratropium is an anticholinergic that reduces mucus production in the airways.
Common side effects may include nausea, vomiting, dry mouth, tremor, headache, dizziness, palpitations, and cough.
Store Duolin LD Respules at room temperature, away from heat and direct light. Keep out of reach of children.
Consult your doctor before using Duolin LD Respules if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Seek immediate medical attention if you suspect an overdose of Duolin LD Respules.
Duolin LD Respules should be used in children only under the supervision and guidance of a doctor. Dosage will be determined by the doctor.
Inform your doctor about all the medications you are taking, including prescription, over-the-counter, and herbal supplements, before using Duolin LD Respules.
Duolin LD Respules typically starts working within 5 to 15 minutes.
Duolin LD Respules may cause dizziness or blurred vision in some individuals. Avoid driving or operating machinery if you experience these side effects.
Other brands containing Levosalbutamol and Ipratropium may be available. Consult your doctor or pharmacist for alternative brands.
Do not stop using Duolin LD Respules suddenly without consulting your doctor, as it may worsen your symptoms.
Use Duolin LD Respules as prescribed by your doctor. Do not use it more frequently than recommended.
Consult your doctor if Duolin LD Respules does not provide adequate relief from your symptoms.
Duolin LD Respules is administered using a nebulizer. Follow the instructions provided by your doctor or pharmacist for proper use.
Duolin Respules are used to relieve and prevent symptoms of bronchospasm such as wheezing, shortness of breath, chest tightness, and coughing in conditions like chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and asthma. They contain two bronchodilators that work together to relax airway muscles and improve airflow. They are usually prescribed when nebulized therapy is preferred or when patients cannot use inhalers properly.
Duolin Respules typically contain ipratropium bromide, an anticholinergic agent, and levosalbutamol or salbutamol, a short‑acting beta‑2 agonist. Ipratropium blocks muscarinic receptors in the airways, reducing bronchoconstriction caused by the parasympathetic nervous system. The beta‑2 agonist component stimulates beta‑2 receptors in bronchial smooth muscle, causing relaxation and bronchodilation. The combined effect widens the airways, reduces resistance to airflow, and helps relieve breathing difficulty.
Use of Duolin Respules during pregnancy should be based on a careful assessment of risks and benefits by a doctor. Limited human data are available, and safety can vary depending on the specific formulation and dose. Uncontrolled asthma or COPD can itself pose risks to both mother and baby, so maintaining good control of breathing symptoms is important. Pregnant women should not start, stop, or change Duolin Respules without medical advice, and any unusual symptoms such as palpitations, chest pain, or severe tremor should be reported promptly.
The components of Duolin Respules may pass into breast milk in small amounts, but clinical data in breastfeeding women are limited. In many cases, bronchodilators are considered compatible with breastfeeding when clearly needed, but the decision must be individualized. A doctor will weigh the benefits of symptom control for the mother against any potential risk to the infant. Breastfeeding mothers should use the lowest effective dose as advised and monitor the baby for unusual irritability, poor feeding, or sleep disturbances, and seek medical advice if concerned.
Some people may experience side effects such as dizziness, tremor, blurred vision, or headache after using Duolin Respules. If you notice any of these effects, your ability to drive or operate machinery may be impaired. You should avoid driving, cycling, or using heavy machinery until you know how the medicine affects you. If symptoms such as chest pain, severe palpitations, or marked dizziness occur, seek medical attention and do not drive yourself to the healthcare facility.
There is no strong evidence of a direct interaction between moderate alcohol intake and the active ingredients in Duolin Respules. However, alcohol can worsen dizziness, palpitations, or blood pressure changes in some individuals and may aggravate underlying heart or liver conditions. Because Duolin Respules can themselves cause side effects such as tremor, rapid heartbeat, or dizziness, combining them with alcohol may increase discomfort or risk of falls. It is advisable to limit or avoid alcohol, especially when starting treatment or if you notice any cardiovascular or neurological side effects.
Duolin Respules are inhaled and act mainly in the lungs, so systemic exposure is generally lower than with oral medicines. However, some absorption into the bloodstream does occur. In patients with liver impairment, the metabolism and clearance of the beta‑2 agonist component may be altered, potentially increasing the risk of side effects such as tremor, palpitations, or low potassium levels. People with moderate to severe liver disease should use Duolin Respules only under close medical supervision, and any worsening fatigue, swelling, or unusual symptoms should be reported to a doctor.
Inhaled bronchodilators like those in Duolin Respules have limited systemic absorption, but some amount is still processed by the body and excreted, partly via the kidneys. In patients with significant kidney impairment, accumulation of the drug or its metabolites is possible, which may increase the likelihood of side effects such as rapid heartbeat, tremor, or changes in blood pressure. Patients with chronic kidney disease should inform their doctor before using Duolin Respules so that overall therapy can be adjusted and monitored appropriately.
If you have ever had an allergic reaction to ipratropium, atropine or related anticholinergics, salbutamol, levosalbutamol, or any other bronchodilator, you must inform your doctor before using Duolin Respules. Symptoms of allergy can include rash, itching, hives, swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat, difficulty breathing, or severe dizziness. If any of these occur after using Duolin Respules, stop using the medicine immediately and seek emergency medical care. Do not restart the medication unless a healthcare professional specifically advises it and has assessed the cause of the reaction.
Whether Duolin Respules should be used regularly or only as needed depends on your diagnosis, severity of symptoms, and your doctor’s treatment plan. Some patients with COPD may be advised to use them on a scheduled basis, while others may use them primarily for acute relief of bronchospasm. Overuse can increase the risk of side effects such as rapid heartbeat, tremor, low potassium levels, and paradoxical bronchospasm. You should follow the dosing schedule prescribed by your doctor and not increase the frequency or amount on your own. If you feel you need the nebulizer more often than recommended, contact your healthcare provider promptly.
The beta‑2 agonist component of Duolin Respules can sometimes cause an increase in heart rate, palpitations, or changes in blood pressure. Patients with existing heart disease, arrhythmias, recent heart attack, uncontrolled high blood pressure, or heart failure should use this medicine with particular caution. They should inform their cardiologist and respiratory physician about all current medications, including beta‑blockers, diuretics, and other inhalers. Any new or worsening chest pain, irregular heartbeat, severe shortness of breath, or fainting spells after using Duolin Respules require urgent medical evaluation.
