Allergies
UNSAFE IN ALLERGYDo not take DV 60K tablet if you are allergic to vitamin D (cholecalciferol) or any of its inactive ingredients.
DV 60K tablet is a high-strength vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) supplement used to treat or prevent vitamin D deficiency. It helps improve calcium and phosphorus absorption, supports bone and teeth health, and may be part of the management of conditions like osteomalacia, osteoporosis, or other bone disorders, as decided by a doctor.
Take DV 60K tablet exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Swallow the tablet with water, preferably after food, unless your doctor advises otherwise. Do not change the dose, frequency, or duration on your own. Follow-up blood tests may be recommended to monitor vitamin D and calcium levels.
DV 60K tablet is a high-dose vitamin D preparation and is not meant for unsupervised daily use. The dosing schedule (for example, weekly, monthly, or otherwise) must be decided by your doctor based on your blood levels and clinical condition. Do not take it daily or more frequently than prescribed without medical supervision, as this may increase the risk of vitamin D toxicity.
Vitamin D is important during pregnancy, but high-dose supplements like DV 60K tablet should only be used if clearly needed and prescribed by a doctor. Your doctor will weigh the benefits and potential risks, review your vitamin D levels, and choose an appropriate dose and schedule. Do not start or continue DV 60K tablet in pregnancy without medical advice.
Vitamin D passes into breast milk. DV 60K tablet may be used during breastfeeding only under medical supervision. Your doctor will consider your vitamin D status, dietary intake, and the baby’s needs before recommending a dose. Avoid self-medicating with high-dose vitamin D while breastfeeding, as excessive maternal intake can affect the infant’s calcium and vitamin D balance.
People with kidney disease, a history of kidney stones, or conditions affecting calcium and phosphate balance need special caution with DV 60K tablet. High vitamin D intake can increase blood calcium levels and may worsen kidney function or promote stone formation. Use only under a nephrologist’s or physician’s supervision, with appropriate dose adjustments and regular monitoring of kidney function, calcium, and vitamin D levels.
DV 60K tablet is not primarily metabolized in the liver in the same way as many other medicines, but vitamin D activation involves both liver and kidney. In people with significant liver disease, vitamin D metabolism may be altered, and dosing may need adjustment. Always inform your doctor about any liver problems so they can choose the right form and dose of vitamin D and monitor your response.
There is no direct, well-established interaction between moderate alcohol intake and vitamin D in DV 60K tablet. However, heavy or chronic alcohol use can worsen bone health, affect liver function, and interfere with nutrient absorption, potentially influencing vitamin D status. It is advisable to limit alcohol intake and discuss your drinking habits with your doctor while on treatment.
DV 60K tablet itself is not known to cause drowsiness or impair concentration, so it is generally considered safe for driving or operating machinery when taken at prescribed doses. However, if you develop symptoms of high calcium levels such as confusion, weakness, or unusual tiredness, avoid driving and seek medical advice immediately.
If you have a known allergy to vitamin D (cholecalciferol) or any excipient in DV 60K tablet, you should not take this medicine. Signs of an allergic reaction may include rash, itching, swelling of the face or throat, severe dizziness, or difficulty breathing. Stop the tablet and seek urgent medical help if you notice any of these symptoms. Inform your doctor about all past allergies before starting DV 60K tablet.
When taken as prescribed and monitored, DV 60K tablet is generally well tolerated. However, excessive or prolonged intake can cause high blood calcium levels, leading to symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, constipation, abdominal pain, loss of appetite, increased thirst, frequent urination, muscle weakness, confusion, or fatigue. If you experience these or any unusual symptoms, contact your doctor promptly.
DV 60K tablet can interact with certain medicines and supplements, such as other vitamin D products, high-dose calcium, some antacids, diuretics, steroids, anticonvulsants, and medicines for tuberculosis or HIV. These interactions may alter vitamin D or calcium levels. Always inform your doctor about all medicines, herbal products, and supplements you are taking so they can adjust your treatment and monitoring accordingly.
