Most side effects are temporary and resolve as your body adapts to the medication. However, if any side effects persist or cause concern, it is important to consult your doctor.

Allergies and skin reactions
Use with cautionEstrabet gel should not be used if you are known to be allergic to estradiol or any of the excipients in the gel formulation.
ESTRABET GEL 80 GM is an estrogen hormone. It helps in treating estrogen deficiency symptoms like hot flushes (red and warm face) and vaginal dryness in women. It is also used to prevent osteoporosis (thinning and weakening of bones) in postmenopausal women, who are at high risk of fractures and have limited treatment choice.
Take ESTRABET GEL 80 GM as per your doctor's advice. However, you must try to take ESTRABET GEL 80 GM at the same time of each day, to ensure the consistent levels of medicine in your body.
If you miss a dose, you should take it as soon as possible. If the dose was missed by more than 12 hours, you should not take the missed dose and simply continue the usual dosing schedule.
The common side effects associated with ESTRABET GEL 80 GM are lower abdominal pain, periods pain, breast tenderness, endometrial hyperplasia (thickening of uterus lining) and vaginal discharge. Most of these symptoms are temporary. However, if these persist, check with your doctor as soon as possible.
For estrogen deficiency, treatment is based on the underlying cause. Your doctor may choose from a variety of medications depending upon whether your are young or old or have had your menopause. The medications will also depend upon whether you are estrogen deficient or have high progesterone levels, etc. You may be given bio-identical estradiol or estriol or counterbalance with natural progesterone.
ESTRABET GEL 80 GM should not be taken by patients who have unusual vaginal bleeding, liver problems, or bleeding disorder. It should also be avoided to patients who are pregnant or are allergic to ESTRABET GEL 80 GM. Patients who have had uterus or breast cancer, had a stroke or heart attack, or currently have or had blood clots should also avoid this medicine.
Serious side effects of ESTRABET GEL 80 GM are uncommon and do not affect everyone. These serious side effects may include breast cancer, ovarian cancer, uterus cancer, stroke, heart attack, blood clots, gallbladder disease and dementia.
Estrabet gel is used as hormone replacement therapy to treat symptoms caused by estrogen deficiency, most commonly during perimenopause and postmenopause. It helps relieve hot flashes, night sweats, vaginal dryness, mood changes, and sleep disturbances related to low estrogen levels. It may also be prescribed in certain cases of surgical menopause or other conditions where estrogen levels are low, as determined by a healthcare professional.
Estrabet gel contains estradiol, a form of estrogen that is absorbed through the skin into the bloodstream. Once absorbed, it supplements the body’s natural estrogen, helping to restore more stable hormone levels. This reduces symptoms of estrogen deficiency, such as vasomotor symptoms (hot flashes and night sweats) and urogenital symptoms (vaginal dryness and discomfort). The transdermal route avoids passage through the digestive system and first‑pass metabolism in the liver, but systemic estrogen effects and risks still apply.
Estrabet gel should be applied exactly as directed by your doctor and according to the product leaflet. Typically, it is applied once daily to clean, dry, unbroken skin on areas such as the arms, shoulders, or thighs, avoiding the breasts and genital area. The gel should be spread in a thin layer and allowed to dry before dressing. Hands should be washed after application. Do not apply to irritated or damaged skin, and avoid covering the area with tight or occlusive dressings unless advised by your doctor. Never change the prescribed amount or frequency without medical guidance.
Estrabet gel is not intended for use during pregnancy. Estrogen therapy during pregnancy can potentially harm the developing fetus and is contraindicated. If you become pregnant or think you might be pregnant while using estrabet gel, you should stop using it and contact your doctor immediately. Women of childbearing potential who are prescribed estrabet gel for specific indications should discuss appropriate contraception with their healthcare provider.
Estrabet gel is generally not recommended during breastfeeding. Estrogens can pass into breast milk and may reduce the quantity and alter the composition of breast milk. They may also have unknown effects on the nursing infant. If you are breastfeeding or planning to breastfeed, inform your doctor before starting estrabet gel. Your doctor will weigh the potential benefits and risks and may recommend alternative treatments that are more suitable during lactation.
Caution is required when using estrabet gel in women with liver problems. Systemic estrogen therapy can affect liver function and is usually contraindicated in women with active or severe liver disease, liver tumors, or unexplained abnormal liver function tests. If you have a history of liver disease, hepatitis, jaundice, or gallbladder disease, you must inform your doctor before starting estrabet gel. Your doctor may perform liver function tests and decide whether this treatment is appropriate or if an alternative should be used.
Women with kidney (renal) impairment should use estrabet gel only under close medical supervision. Although estradiol is primarily metabolized in the liver, changes in fluid balance and protein binding in kidney disease may influence hormone levels and side effects. If you have chronic kidney disease or reduced kidney function, your doctor will carefully assess the risks and benefits, monitor you more closely, and may adjust your overall hormone therapy plan. Do not start or continue estrabet gel without discussing your kidney condition with your healthcare provider.
Estrabet gel itself is not known to directly impair the ability to drive or operate machinery. However, some women may experience side effects such as headache, dizziness, or mood changes when starting or adjusting hormone therapy. If you notice symptoms that could affect concentration, alertness, or coordination, avoid driving or using heavy machinery until you feel well again and have discussed these symptoms with your doctor. Always follow your doctor’s advice regarding activities that require full attention.
Moderate alcohol consumption is not specifically contraindicated with estrabet gel, but alcohol can influence hormone metabolism and may worsen certain side effects such as flushing, headache, or breast tenderness. Heavy alcohol use is associated with increased risks of liver disease, breast cancer, and cardiovascular problems, which may add to the risks of hormone therapy. If you drink alcohol, do so in moderation and discuss your drinking habits with your doctor so that your overall risk profile can be properly assessed.
If you have a history of allergies, eczema, or very sensitive skin, inform your doctor before starting estrabet gel. Some individuals may be allergic to estradiol or to other ingredients in the gel base, leading to redness, itching, rash, or irritation at the application site. If you develop any signs of an allergic reaction, such as widespread rash, swelling of the face or throat, difficulty breathing, or severe skin irritation, stop using the gel and seek medical attention immediately. Your doctor may recommend a different formulation or an alternative therapy if you are unable to tolerate the gel.
Estrabet gel is generally not suitable for women with a history of breast cancer or estrogen‑dependent tumors, unexplained vaginal bleeding, untreated endometrial hyperplasia, active or past blood clots in the veins or lungs, recent heart attack or stroke, severe liver disease, or known hypersensitivity to estradiol or any component of the gel. It is also not intended for use in pregnancy or usually during breastfeeding. Your doctor will review your personal and family medical history, including risk factors for blood clots, cardiovascular disease, and hormone‑sensitive cancers, before deciding whether estrabet gel is appropriate for you.
