Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them.

Allergies
Contraindicated in known hypersensitivityDo not use Festal N tablet if you are allergic to any of its ingredients, including pork‑derived pancreatic enzymes or bile components, if present.
FESTAL N TABLET 10'S is a pancreatic enzyme supplement created with a mixture of enzymes. It is given to patients whose pancreas is not able to create enough of their own enzymes to digest the food. It is also given to treat digestion problems caused in patients whose pancreas have been surgically removed or are not working well.
FESTAL N TABLET 10'S is usually safe in patients who have been prescribed to take it for digestion issues caused due to problems of the pancreas. FESTAL N TABLET 10'S can cause an increase in blood uric acid levels, thereby worsening your gout and causing painful swollen joints. FESTAL N TABLET 10'S may also cause allergic reactions like skin rashes, swollen lips, increased flatulence, stomach pain, headache, dizziness, etc. Consult your doctor before you start taking this medicine and give a proper history of allergies and the medicines you are currently taking.
Take the capsule with food and swallow it as a whole. Drink plenty of fluids after taking the medicine. It is very essential to increase your fluid intake while taking FESTAL N TABLET 10'S. In case you have trouble swallowing capsules, you can take out the granules from the capsules and mix them with fruit juices or yoghurt and swallow it. Just be careful not to crush the granules.
You should try to take five small meals to make it easier for your pancreas to digest what you eat. Take a well-balanced, low-fat diet and strictly limit the foods which contain a high amount of saturated and trans fats. Your diet should preferably contain whole grains, fruits, vegetables, fat-free meat/poultry, beans and low-fat dairy sources. Drink plenty of fluids and water throughout the day to stay hydrated. Ask your doctor if you can take regular vitamin like A, D, E, and K, as it will be benefecial for you. You can have limited amounts of healthy polyunsaturated fat. Avoid smoking or drinking alcohol strictly because this can damage your pancreas.
Yes, FESTAL N TABLET 10'S can be given to children. Just like adults, even children need to be given a sufficient amount of fluids while on treatment with FESTAL N TABLET 10'S. When giving it to infants aged 12 months or less, you can open the capsule and empty the contents directly into the infant’s mouth. Following this, you can feed breast milk or infant milk formula to your baby. However, do not mix the medicine directly into the formula or breast milk. Also, be cautious to see that the baby swallows the entire medicine and nothing is retained in the baby’s mouth, as it can cause irritation in the mouth.
Festal N tablet is mainly used to aid digestion when the body does not produce enough digestive enzymes or when heavy or fatty meals cause discomfort. It helps relieve symptoms such as bloating, gas, abdominal fullness, and indigestion by providing enzymes that break down fats, proteins, and carbohydrates. Doctors may prescribe it in conditions like pancreatic insufficiency, chronic pancreatitis, or after certain gastrointestinal or pancreatic surgeries, and sometimes for functional indigestion, always under medical supervision.
Festal N tablet contains digestive enzymes, typically including lipase, amylase, and protease, and sometimes bile components, which mimic or supplement the enzymes normally produced by the pancreas and other digestive organs. Lipase helps digest fats, amylase breaks down carbohydrates, and protease helps digest proteins. By improving the breakdown of food in the intestine, Festal N reduces the workload on the digestive system, improves nutrient absorption, and helps relieve symptoms like heaviness, gas, and discomfort after meals.
Festal N tablet is not primarily intended for treating acidity or heartburn caused by excess stomach acid. It is designed to support digestion by providing enzymes, not to neutralize or reduce acid. While some people may feel better if their indigestion is related to poor digestion of food, Festal N should not replace antacids or acid‑suppressing medicines when true acid reflux or peptic ulcer disease is present. If you have frequent heartburn, sour belching, or chest burning, consult a doctor for proper evaluation instead of self‑treating with Festal N.
Caution is advised when using Festal N tablet in people with liver disease. Some formulations contain bile components that may interact with liver function, and underlying liver problems can also change how medicines are processed. Mild, stable liver disease may tolerate Festal N, but only a doctor can decide if it is appropriate in your specific case. Always inform your healthcare provider about any history of hepatitis, cirrhosis, fatty liver, or abnormal liver tests before starting Festal N, and do not adjust or continue it long term without medical follow‑up.
People with kidney disease should use Festal N tablet only on medical advice. Although digestive enzymes are mainly active in the gut, chronic kidney disease can alter the body’s response to many medicines and may be associated with other gastrointestinal issues. Some patients with advanced kidney disease may have dietary restrictions or other medications that need to be coordinated with enzyme therapy. If you have reduced kidney function, are on dialysis, or have a history of kidney problems, discuss Festal N with your nephrologist or treating physician before use.
The safety of Festal N tablet in pregnancy has not been established conclusively in large, well‑controlled studies. Digestive enzymes are generally considered to have limited systemic absorption, but any medicine in pregnancy should be used only if clearly needed and prescribed by a doctor. If you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, do not start Festal N on your own for indigestion or heaviness after meals. Your doctor will weigh the potential benefits against any possible risks and may suggest dietary changes or safer alternatives first.
During breastfeeding, Festal N tablet should be used only under medical supervision. Digestive enzymes mainly act locally in the intestine and are not significantly absorbed into the bloodstream in most people, so the amount reaching breast milk is expected to be very low. However, because formal safety data in breastfeeding women are limited, it is important to consult your doctor before using Festal N. If prescribed, use the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration, and monitor the baby for any unusual symptoms such as diarrhea, rash, or irritability.
Festal N tablet does not usually cause drowsiness, blurred vision, or impaired concentration, so it is generally considered safe with respect to driving and operating machinery. Most people can continue their normal activities after taking it. However, if you experience any unexpected side effects such as dizziness, abdominal cramps severe enough to distract you, or general weakness, avoid driving or using heavy machines until you feel well again. If such symptoms persist, seek medical advice to rule out other causes or medicine interactions.
It is not advisable to combine Festal N tablet with alcohol. Alcohol itself can irritate the stomach and pancreas, worsen indigestion, and contribute to or aggravate pancreatitis and liver disease. Using Festal N while continuing to drink alcohol may mask some digestive symptoms without addressing the underlying harm caused by alcohol. If you are prescribed Festal N for pancreatic or digestive problems, you should avoid or strictly limit alcohol intake and follow your doctor’s dietary and lifestyle recommendations for best results and safety.
If you have a history of allergies, especially to pork‑derived products, animal proteins, or any medicine components, you must check the ingredient list of Festal N and consult your doctor or pharmacist before use. Many pancreatic enzyme preparations are derived from animal sources, and allergic reactions such as rash, itching, swelling of the face or lips, or breathing difficulty can occur in sensitive individuals. Stop the medicine immediately and seek emergency care if any signs of allergy appear. People with multiple drug allergies or severe atopy should use Festal N only under close medical supervision.
Festal N tablet is usually taken with or immediately after meals so that the enzymes can mix with the food and act effectively in the intestine. Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water; do not crush or chew it unless your doctor or the product instructions specifically allow this, as the coating is often designed to protect the enzymes from stomach acid. The exact dose and frequency depend on your diagnosis, age, and response to treatment and must be determined by your doctor. Do not increase the dose on your own, and do not use it for long periods without medical review.
