How FLUCOLD SYRUP 60 ML Works

• Paracetamol acts mainly in the brain to reduce the production of prostaglandins, which raise body temperature and sensitivity to pain. It lowers fever by acting on the brain's temperature-control centre.
• Phenylephrine stimulates alpha-1 receptors on blood vessels in the lining of the nose, making them narrow. This reduces swelling and congestion. Chlorpheniramine blocks H1 histamine receptors, reducing sneezing, runny nose and watery eyes, and it can cause drowsiness.

Drowsiness is common. Some children instead become restless, excitable, nervous or unable to sleep. Dry mouth, dizziness, headache, mild stomach upset, constipation and a fast heartbeat can also occur. Paracetamol can rarely cause serious skin reactions such as Stevens-Johnson syndrome, with redness, blistering and peeling. Too much paracetamol, including from giving more than one paracetamol-containing medicine, can cause severe liver damage and death. Swelling of the face or throat, breathing difficulty, a blistering rash, unusual drowsiness, a fit or yellowing of the skin need emergency care.

• If you miss a dose of Flucold Syrup, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not double the dose to make up for the missed one.

• Keep the bottle tightly closed in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight, and follow the storage instruction printed on the current Wallace pack. Keep it out of the reach of children, and do not use it after the expiry date.

• Do not give it with any other medicine containing paracetamol
• Measure every dose with the device provided
• Record the time of each dose
• Do not give it to children under 2 years
• Offer plenty of fluids and rest
• See a doctor if the child has breathing difficulty or fever lasting more than a few days

• No specific food interaction is known. Plenty of fluids help a child with a cold. Saline nose drops and a clean nose can help a blocked nose in young children.
