Most side effects are temporary and disappear as your body adapts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they continue or cause concern.

Use in Children and Older Adults
CAUTIONIn children, the use of Gris OD tablet and the exact regimen must be determined by a pediatrician, taking into account age, weight, and type of infection.
Oral intake of GRIS OD T TABLET 7'S is not recommended in patients with chronic or active liver disease. Your doctor may prescribe a liver function test to check whether the liver is functioning effectively or not. This is done because the medicine gets metabolized by liver enzymes and any inefficiency in liver function can lead to increased levels of the medication in the blood, resulting in increased side effects and toxicity. Therefore, it is important to inform your doctor if you have any liver disease or cirrhosis. Also, inform your doctor about the medicines you may be taking as taking GRIS OD T TABLET 7'S with another medicine can lead to liver toxicity and GRIS OD T TABLET 7'S by acting on the liver enzymes can change the levels of other drugs. Your doctor may suggest periodic monitoring (after 4-6 weeks of treatment) of liver function test and make dose adjustments accordingly.
Yes, sensitive individuals may develop skin reactions while using GRIS OD T TABLET 7'S. There are rare reports of people developing serious skin/hypersensitivity reactions like Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis, and other severe skin reactions with GRIS OD T TABLET 7'S. Therefore, do not take this medication without consulting your physician. And, in case you encounter any type of skin reaction or rashes, stop the medication immediately and report to the doctor.
GRIS OD T TABLET 7'S is effective as an anti fungal medicine if used in the dose and duration advised by your doctor. Do not stop taking it even if you see improvement in your condition. If you stop taking this medicine too early, the fungus may continue to grow and the infection may return or worsen.
The usual duration of treatment for Tinea pedis (fungal infection in the foot), Tinea corporis (ringworms), and Tinea cruris (fungal infection in the groin) is about 2 to 4 weeks. The duration may sometimes be extended to 6 weeks. For fungal infections of nails, the duration of treatment usually varies from 6 to 12 weeks. For fingernail fungal infections it may take 6 weeks whereas toenail fungal infection may take about 12 weeks. However, the exact duration of the therapy is decided by the doctor depending upon the type of infection, the site of infection, and the patient’s response to the therapy.
Caffeinated drinks like tea and coffee should be taken with caution while being on treatment with GRIS OD T TABLET 7'S. GRIS OD T TABLET 7'S decreases the rate of metabolism of caffeine by 19% which is an important constituent of coffee, thereby increasing the levels of caffeine in the blood. These increased levels of caffeine may lead to side effects such as jitteriness, headache, increased heartbeat, and restlessness.
Gris OD tablet contains griseofulvin, an antifungal medicine used mainly to treat certain fungal infections of the skin, hair, and nails caused by dermatophytes (ringworm fungi). It may be prescribed for conditions such as tinea corporis (ringworm of the body), tinea cruris (jock itch), tinea pedis (athlete’s foot), tinea capitis (scalp ringworm), and some nail infections (tinea unguium/onychomycosis) when caused by susceptible organisms. It is not effective against yeast infections like Candida or against bacterial or viral infections.
Gris OD tablet works by interfering with the ability of susceptible fungi to divide and multiply. Griseofulvin binds to a component of fungal cells called microtubules and disrupts mitosis (cell division). It also binds to keratin in the skin, hair, and nails, making these tissues resistant to new fungal invasion. As the infected tissue is gradually shed and replaced by healthy tissue, the infection clears. Because this process depends on the natural growth of skin, hair, or nails, treatment often needs to be continued for several weeks or months.
You must take Gris OD tablet exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Do not change the dose, frequency, or duration on your own. It is often recommended to take griseofulvin with or after a fatty meal to improve absorption, but follow your doctor’s specific instructions. The total duration of treatment varies widely depending on the site and severity of infection, your age, and your response to therapy. Nail and scalp infections may require prolonged treatment. Never use someone else’s prescription, and do not stop the medicine early even if symptoms improve, unless your doctor advises you to do so.
Gris OD tablet can affect liver function in some people. Mild, temporary changes in liver enzymes may occur, and in rare cases more serious liver injury is possible. It is generally avoided or used with great caution in people with existing liver disease, a history of liver problems related to medicines, or conditions such as porphyria. Your doctor may order blood tests to monitor liver function, especially if treatment is prolonged. Seek medical help immediately if you develop symptoms such as persistent nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, dark urine, pale stools, unusual fatigue, or yellowing of the skin or eyes while taking this medicine.
In people with mild to moderate kidney impairment, Gris OD tablet may sometimes be used with caution, but the decision must be individualized by a doctor. Severe kidney disease may require dose adjustment or selection of an alternative antifungal, depending on overall health and other medicines being taken. If you have any history of kidney problems, reduced urine output, kidney stones, or are on dialysis, inform your doctor before starting Gris OD tablet. Your doctor will weigh the benefits and risks and may monitor your kidney function and overall clinical status during therapy.
Gris OD tablet is generally not recommended during pregnancy because griseofulvin has been associated with potential harm to the developing baby in animal studies, and there are concerns about possible birth defects. Women who are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or who could become pregnant should discuss alternative treatments with their doctor. Effective contraception is usually advised during treatment and for a period after stopping the medicine, as recommended by your healthcare provider. If you become pregnant while taking Gris OD tablet, contact your doctor immediately to discuss the safest course of action.
Griseofulvin, the active ingredient in Gris OD tablet, may pass into breast milk, and there is limited safety information for nursing infants. Because of the potential risk of adverse effects in the baby, many guidelines advise avoiding griseofulvin during breastfeeding, especially when nursing newborns or premature infants. If treatment with Gris OD tablet is considered essential, your doctor will discuss the potential risks and benefits and may suggest either an alternative antifungal or, in some cases, temporary interruption of breastfeeding. Do not make changes without consulting your healthcare provider.
Gris OD tablet can cause side effects such as dizziness, drowsiness, fatigue, blurred vision, or lack of coordination in some people. If you experience any of these symptoms, your ability to drive, ride a bike, or operate machinery may be impaired. Until you know how this medicine affects you, avoid activities that require full alertness and clear vision. If such symptoms persist or become troublesome, inform your doctor. Never combine this medicine with alcohol or other sedating drugs without medical advice, as this can further reduce alertness and reaction time.
It is advisable to avoid alcohol while taking Gris OD tablet. Alcohol can increase the risk of liver damage when combined with griseofulvin and may worsen side effects such as dizziness, drowsiness, flushing, or stomach upset. In some individuals, alcohol and griseofulvin together may cause a reaction resembling disulfiram, with flushing, rapid heartbeat, and discomfort. If you have a history of alcohol use disorder or liver disease, it is especially important to discuss this with your doctor before starting treatment. Follow your doctor’s advice strictly regarding alcohol consumption during therapy.
Do not take Gris OD tablet if you have a known allergy to griseofulvin or any of the ingredients in the tablet. Signs of an allergic reaction can include rash, itching, hives, swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat, difficulty breathing, or severe dizziness. This medicine may also cross‑react in some people who are allergic to certain penicillins, although this is not universal. Inform your doctor about all previous drug allergies, including to antibiotics, antifungals, or any serious skin reactions you have had. If you develop any signs of allergy after starting Gris OD tablet, stop taking it and seek urgent medical attention.
Gris OD tablet can interact with several medicines. Griseofulvin may reduce the effectiveness of hormonal contraceptives such as birth control pills, patches, or implants, increasing the risk of unintended pregnancy. Your doctor will usually advise using an additional non‑hormonal contraceptive method during treatment and for some time after stopping the medicine. It may also interact with blood thinners, some sedatives, and other drugs metabolized by the liver. Always inform your doctor and pharmacist about all prescription medicines, over‑the‑counter products, and herbal supplements you are taking before starting Gris OD tablet.
