About IMFINZI 500MG/10ML INJECTION

  • IMFINZI 500MG/10ML INJECTION is a medicine used to fight certain types of cancer. It contains the active substance Durvalumab. This medicine belongs to a group called "monoclonal antibodies" or "immunotherapies". These drugs help your body's own immune system recognize and attack cancer cells more effectively. IMFINZI is used to treat specific kinds of lung cancer (non-small cell lung cancer that hasn't spread widely, and small cell lung cancer that has spread within the lungs) and cancers of the bile ducts (biliary tract cancers).
  • IMFINZI works by blocking a protein called PD-L1 on cancer cells and immune cells. By blocking PD-L1, it helps your immune cells, called T-cells, find and kill the cancer cells. For small cell lung cancer, IMFINZI is often given together with chemotherapy drugs like carboplatin or cisplatin. For biliary tract cancer, it's typically used with gemcitabine. This combination approach can make the treatment more powerful against the cancer.
  • Before you start treatment with IMFINZI 500MG/10ML INJECTION, it's very important to tell your doctor about your medical history. This includes if you have ever had an organ transplant, problems with your liver, lungs, or breathing, or any autoimmune disease (where your immune system attacks parts of your own body, like lupus, Crohn's disease, or rheumatoid arthritis). Also, mention if you have kidney problems, heart failure, high blood cholesterol, or high blood pressure. These conditions might affect how you tolerate the treatment.
  • Like most medicines, IMFINZI can cause side effects. Common ones include cough, upper respiratory infections, feeling very tired, shortness of breath, inflammation in the lungs (pneumonitis), and skin rash. More serious side effects, though less common, can involve inflammation caused by your immune system affecting organs like the lungs (pneumonitis), colon (colitis), liver (hepatitis), hormone glands (endocrinopathies), or kidneys (nephritis). Your doctor will monitor you closely during treatment, performing regular blood tests to check your white blood cells, platelets, blood sugar, electrolytes, and kidney function. This helps catch and manage potential side effects early.
  • IMFINZI 500MG/10ML INJECTION is given as an infusion directly into a vein. It is administered by a healthcare professional in a hospital or clinic setting. This medicine is not suitable for children and adolescents under 18 years of age. Always follow your doctor's instructions regarding the dosage and treatment schedule. Do not miss any scheduled appointments for your infusion.
