Common side effects of INTAGESIC MR Tablet may include nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, heartburn, diarrhea, loss of appetite, drowsiness, dizziness, headache, and dry mouth. Less common side effects could involve allergic reactions (rash, itching, swelling), increased sweating, muscle weakness, blurred vision, difficulty sleeping, nervousness, confusion, anxiety, and ringing in the ears (tinnitus). Consult your doctor if you experience any persistent or severe side effects.

Gastrointestinal and Cardiovascular Risk
Use with cautionDiclofenac, like other NSAIDs, can increase the risk of gastrointestinal irritation, ulcers, and bleeding, particularly in older adults, those with a history of peptic ulcer disease, or those taking anticoagulants, antiplatelet agents, or corticosteroids.

MR tablets containing chlorzoxazone, diclofenac (often sustained release), and paracetamol are used for short‑term relief of painful musculoskeletal conditions associated with muscle spasm. Typical indications include acute low back pain, neck pain, muscle strains and sprains, soft‑tissue injuries, and other painful conditions where both inflammation and muscle spasm contribute to symptoms. They are usually prescribed as part of a comprehensive plan that may also include rest, physiotherapy, and local measures such as heat or cold.
These MR tablets work through three complementary mechanisms. Chlorzoxazone acts centrally on the spinal cord and brain to reduce abnormal skeletal muscle tone and relieve muscle spasm. Diclofenac is a non‑steroidal anti‑inflammatory drug (NSAID) that inhibits cyclo‑oxygenase enzymes, decreasing prostaglandin production and thereby reducing pain and inflammation. Paracetamol provides additional analgesic and antipyretic effects, enhancing pain relief. The modified or sustained‑release component of diclofenac helps maintain more stable blood levels over time.
MR tablets are not intended for routine treatment of chronic everyday pain, tension‑type headaches, or migraine. They are specifically designed for short‑term management of acute musculoskeletal pain with muscle spasm. For chronic pain conditions, long‑term use of NSAIDs and combination products can increase the risk of gastrointestinal, cardiovascular, liver, and kidney adverse effects. Headaches usually do not require a muscle relaxant component. You should consult a healthcare professional for an appropriate, safer long‑term pain management strategy.
MR tablets containing chlorzoxazone, diclofenac, and paracetamol should not be used for self‑medication without medical advice. Each component has specific risks, including gastrointestinal bleeding and kidney effects from diclofenac, liver toxicity from paracetamol in high doses or in susceptible individuals, and central nervous system effects or rare liver injury from chlorzoxazone. A clinician needs to assess your medical history, concurrent medicines, and risk factors before recommending this combination and to determine whether it is appropriate for your condition.
Commonly reported side effects include nausea, vomiting, abdominal discomfort, indigestion, heartburn, diarrhea or constipation, dizziness, drowsiness, headache, and a feeling of fatigue or weakness. Some people may experience dry mouth or a metallic taste. Because diclofenac is an NSAID, there is a risk of gastric irritation and, less commonly, ulcers or bleeding. Chlorzoxazone can cause drowsiness and, rarely, allergic skin reactions or liver enzyme elevations. Paracetamol is generally well tolerated at recommended total daily doses but can cause serious liver injury if overdosed.
MR tablets should generally be avoided in people with a known allergy or hypersensitivity to diclofenac, other NSAIDs, paracetamol, chlorzoxazone, or any excipients in the formulation. They are usually contraindicated in patients with active or recurrent peptic ulcer disease, a history of gastrointestinal bleeding related to NSAID use, severe liver or kidney impairment, severe heart failure, or a history of aspirin‑ or NSAID‑induced asthma or angioedema. Caution or avoidance is also advised in late pregnancy, in heavy alcohol users, and in individuals taking other medicines that significantly increase gastrointestinal or hepatic risk.
MR tablets already contain diclofenac (an NSAID) and paracetamol, so combining them with additional NSAIDs such as ibuprofen, naproxen, or more diclofenac is generally not recommended due to increased risk of gastrointestinal, kidney, and cardiovascular adverse effects. Taking extra paracetamol‑containing products alongside an MR tablet can lead to unintentional paracetamol overdose and serious liver injury. If additional pain control is needed, you should consult your doctor, who may adjust the regimen or consider alternative agents that do not duplicate the same drug classes.
Chlorzoxazone, the muscle relaxant component, can cause central nervous system depression in some individuals, leading to drowsiness, dizziness, light‑headedness, or reduced alertness. These effects may be more pronounced when treatment is initiated, when the dose is increased, or when taken with alcohol or other sedating medicines. Because of this, patients are usually advised to assess how they personally respond to the medicine before driving, operating machinery, or performing tasks that require full mental alertness.
Use in patients with pre‑existing liver or kidney impairment requires great caution and close medical supervision. Both diclofenac and paracetamol can worsen liver function in susceptible individuals, and diclofenac can reduce kidney blood flow, potentially aggravating renal impairment. Chlorzoxazone has also been associated with rare but serious liver toxicity. In mild impairment, a doctor may decide that a short course at adjusted strength and with monitoring is acceptable, but in moderate to severe hepatic or renal disease, this combination is often avoided in favor of safer alternatives.
If you miss a scheduled dose, take it as soon as you remember, unless it is almost time for your next planned dose. In that case, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not take two doses together or take extra tablets to make up for a missed dose, as this increases the risk of adverse effects, particularly from diclofenac and paracetamol. If you frequently forget doses, discuss with your healthcare provider whether you still need the medicine and how to simplify your regimen.
MR tablets are generally intended for short‑term use, often for a few days to a couple of weeks, depending on the severity and nature of the musculoskeletal condition. Prolonged continuous use increases the risk of gastrointestinal, cardiovascular, renal, and hepatic adverse effects associated with NSAIDs and paracetamol, as well as potential dependence on pharmacological muscle relaxation instead of rehabilitative measures. If pain or muscle spasm persists beyond the period advised by your doctor, you should be re‑evaluated rather than continuing the tablet on your own.
Have a great place to purchase medicine.
