Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them.
Pregnancy
Use only under medical supervisionData on the use of topical ketoconazole in pregnant women are limited; animal data mainly relate to systemic exposure, which is much higher than with topical use.
BreastFeeding
CautionTopical ketoconazole is unlikely to reach significant levels in breast milk when used on intact skin, but direct data are limited.
Driving
Generally safeKetoford Cream is applied topically and does not have known effects on alertness, coordination, or reaction time.
Alcohol
No direct interaction expectedNo specific interaction between topical Ketoford Cream and alcohol consumption has been documented.
Allergies
Contraindicated in hypersensitivityKetoford Cream should not be used by individuals with a known allergy or hypersensitivity to ketoconazole, other imidazole antifungals (such as clotrimazole or miconazole), or any of the excipients in the formulation.

General skin use and precautions
ImportantKetoford Cream is for external use on the skin only and must not be swallowed or used in the eyes, inside the mouth, inside the nose, or in the genital tract unless specifically prescribed for that site.
KETOFORD CREAM 15 GM is used to treat skin infections which may appear on the feet (Athlete’s foot), in the groin area (jock itch), or between skin folds (sweat rash infected with a yeast infection “thrush”). It is also used for candida infections of skin and nails. It rapidly relieves the itching caused due to these fungal infections.
No, KETOFORD CREAM 15 GM is not a steroid cream. It is an anti-fungal medicine which belongs to the imidazole class of medicines. It works by killing the fungi or by preventing the growth of fungi that cause infection.
The common side effects are application site burning, redness, and itching. The application site may also develop some uncommon side effects such as discomfort, dryness, bleeding, severe allergic reactions, urticaria or hives, rash, skin exfoliation, sticky skin, prickling sensation, or inflammation.
It is recommended that you use a mild steroid ointment like hydrocortisone cream/ointment in the morning and use KETOFORD CREAM 15 GM in the evening. You can then stop using the steroid cream gradually over 2-3 weeks. But, if you have used a potent corticosteroid for seborrheic dermatitis, maintain at least a gap of 2 weeks before you apply KETOFORD CREAM 15 GM to prevent skin sensitization.
Wash the affected area thoroughly with water and then dry it. Wash your hands carefully (until and unless your hands are also affected) after applying KETOFORD CREAM 15 GM. This will prevent the infection from spreading to other parts of the body or other people.
You should use KETOFORD CREAM 15 GM for as long as advised by your doctor. Generally, it is to be used for 2-4 weeks for jock itch and sweat rash and 2-6 weeks for Athlete’s foot. Do not stop using it even if your symptoms have disappeared because the infection may reappear if not properly treated.
If you forget to use KETOFORD CREAM 15 GM, do not worry and continue using KETOFORD CREAM 15 GM as soon as you remember. However, if you are not sure and have any other doubts, please consult your doctor.
Ketoford Cream is a topical antifungal medicine containing ketoconazole, usually at 2% strength, used to treat superficial fungal infections of the skin. It is commonly prescribed for ringworm (tinea corporis), jock itch (tinea cruris), athlete’s foot (tinea pedis), pityriasis versicolor, and seborrheic dermatitis. It works by interfering with the synthesis of ergosterol in fungal cell membranes, which weakens and kills the fungus or stops its growth.
Ketoford Cream contains ketoconazole, an imidazole antifungal agent. It inhibits the fungal enzyme involved in the production of ergosterol, a key component of the fungal cell membrane. Without adequate ergosterol, the membrane becomes structurally defective, leading to leakage of cellular contents and impaired growth or death of the fungal cells. This targeted action helps clear the infection at the site of application with minimal systemic absorption when used as directed.
Ketoford Cream is for external use on the skin only. Wash and gently dry the affected area before application. Apply a thin, even layer of the cream to the affected skin and a small surrounding area, then rub in gently. Wash your hands after applying, unless your hands are the treated area. Use it exactly as prescribed by your doctor or as directed on the product label. Do not cover the area with airtight dressings unless your healthcare provider specifically advises this.
Symptom relief such as reduction in itching or redness may begin within a few days of regular use, but complete clearance of the infection usually takes longer and depends on the type and extent of the fungal infection. Some conditions may require several weeks of continuous treatment. It is important to continue using Ketoford Cream for the full duration recommended by your doctor, even if symptoms improve earlier, to reduce the risk of recurrence.
Ketoford Cream may be used on facial skin if prescribed for conditions such as seborrheic dermatitis, but it must be kept away from the eyes, eyelids, and mucous membranes. If accidental contact with the eyes occurs, rinse thoroughly with plenty of clean water and seek medical advice if irritation persists. Do not apply the cream inside the nose, mouth, or on open, oozing, or severely damaged skin unless specifically instructed by a healthcare professional.
Common side effects are usually mild and localized to the application site. They may include transient burning or stinging sensation, itching, redness, dryness, peeling, or irritation. These effects often lessen as the skin adapts to treatment. If side effects are severe, persistent, or worsen over time, or if you notice blistering, swelling, or signs of infection, you should stop using the cream and consult your doctor.
Data on the use of topical ketoconazole in pregnancy are limited, but systemic absorption from intact skin is generally low. Ketoford Cream should only be used during pregnancy if the potential benefit justifies any potential risk, and it should be used under medical supervision. Pregnant patients should avoid applying it over large body areas, on broken skin, or for prolonged periods without specific guidance from their healthcare provider.
Topical ketoconazole is expected to have minimal systemic absorption when used on intact skin, so the risk to a breastfed infant is likely low. However, Ketoford Cream should not be applied directly to the nipples or breast area if breastfeeding, to avoid accidental ingestion by the infant. Breastfeeding mothers should use the cream only on other body areas and follow their doctor’s advice regarding duration and site of application.
Ketoford Cream may be used in children if prescribed by a pediatrician or dermatologist, who will assess the indication, age, and extent of skin involvement. Because children have a higher skin surface area to body weight ratio, there is a theoretical increased risk of systemic absorption when large areas are treated. Therefore, use in children should be carefully supervised, limited to the smallest effective area, and for the shortest duration necessary.
If you miss a scheduled application, apply Ketoford Cream as soon as you remember, unless it is almost time for your next application. In that case, skip the missed dose and resume your regular schedule. Do not apply extra cream to make up for a missed application, as this does not improve effectiveness and may increase local irritation. Consistent use as directed is important for optimal treatment outcomes.
You should not stop using Ketoford Cream as soon as symptoms improve unless your doctor advises you to do so. Fungal infections may persist in the deeper layers of the skin even after visible signs have lessened. Stopping treatment too early can lead to incomplete eradication of the fungus and recurrence of symptoms. Always complete the full course recommended by your healthcare provider, and attend follow-up if symptoms return.
