How KETOFORD CREAM 15 GM Works

• Ketoconazole blocks the production of ergosterol, a substance fungal cells need to build their outer membrane. Without enough ergosterol the membrane becomes leaky and structurally weak, so the fungus stops growing and the cells die.
• In seborrhoeic dermatitis the benefit is attributed to a reduction in Malassezia, a yeast that lives on the skin, although this has not been fully established.

Reported effects are local to the area where the cream is applied, and most are mild. Absorption into the bloodstream from healthy skin is minimal, so the effects associated with ketoconazole taken by mouth do not apply to this cream. Treatment should be stopped and a doctor consulted where the skin blisters or swells, where irritation is severe or worsening, or where a widespread rash, facial swelling or difficulty breathing suggests an allergic reaction.

• Burning or stinging where the cream is applied
• Itching
• Redness
• Dryness or peeling of the skin
• Irritation at the application site
• Contact dermatitis

• Store the tube at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture, and keep it out of the reach of children and pets. Replace the cap after each use.

• Apply to clean, dry skin and cover a small margin of skin around the affected patch
• Wash the hands after every application unless the hands are being treated
• Keep the cream away from the eyes, mouth, nose and genital area
• Complete the full course even after the skin looks clear
• Do not share towels, footwear or clothing while the infection is being treated
• Keep the affected area dry and wear loose cotton clothing
• Tell the doctor about any allergy to ketoconazole, clotrimazole or miconazole before starting
