How LETROZ 2.5MG TABLET 5'S Works

• Letrozole selectively blocks the aromatase enzyme, which normally converts androgens into oestrogens in body tissues. In postmenopausal women, most oestrogen is produced this way rather than by the ovaries, so blocking aromatase substantially lowers the body's oestrogen levels.
• Since hormone receptor-positive breast cancer cells rely on oestrogen to grow, this reduction in oestrogen helps slow or stop tumour growth. When used for ovulation induction, the temporary drop in oestrogen it produces alters the feedback signals to the pituitary gland, which can prompt the ovary to develop and release an egg.

Fatigue, hot flashes and sweating, joint pain, headache and nausea are the most commonly reported effects. Reduced bone mineral density, raised cholesterol, swelling of the face, feet or legs, and changes in appetite have also been reported. Chest pain, sudden breathing difficulty, signs of a stroke, or a rapid or irregular heartbeat need immediate medical attention, since aromatase inhibitors carry a recognised cardiovascular risk.

• Store the tablets in their original pack, below 25°C unless the pack states otherwise, away from direct sunlight and moisture, and out of the reach of children.

• Take at the same time each day, with or without food
• Have bone density and cholesterol checked periodically, as advised by the prescriber
• Use effective contraception during treatment if there is any possibility of pregnancy
• Avoid alcohol during treatment
• Seek urgent medical attention for chest pain, breathing difficulty, or symptoms of a stroke
• Do not stop treatment without consulting the prescriber, even if feeling better

• This tablet can generally be taken with or without food. Alcohol should be avoided during treatment, since it can increase the risk of serious complications.
