LIPICARD 200MG TABLET 10'S should be used with caution in patients with kidney disorders. Serum creatinine levels may increase with long-term usage of LIPICARD 200MG TABLET 10'S but is completely reversible. The evidence of kidney damage with this medicine is rare still the kidney function blood test should be done regularly if there is a possibility of kidney damage. Consult your doctor before taking the medicine. Inform the doctor if you have had any disease and all the medicines that you are taking for a better diagnosis and treatment.
Yes, you can take LIPICARD 200MG TABLET 10'S with grapefruit juice. However, if in doubt then limit the intake of grapefruit juice while taking LIPICARD 200MG TABLET 10'S.
There are few drugs like Oral Anticoagulants or blood thinners, ciclosporin, cholesterol-lowering medications like statins and contraceptives are contraindicated while you take LIPICARD 200MG TABLET 10'S. Along with that, there are certain medicines which should not be taken with LIPICARD 200MG TABLET 10'S and therefore you must give a proper history to your doctor regarding your ongoing medication. This is done to analyze the condition and provide a proper therapy and prescription which will help minimizing the side effects of the medication.
Lipicard 200 is generally used to treat abnormal blood lipid levels, especially high triglycerides and mixed dyslipidemia. It helps lower triglycerides, can modestly reduce LDL (bad cholesterol), and may increase HDL (good cholesterol). It is usually prescribed when lifestyle measures such as diet, exercise, and weight loss alone are not enough to control lipid levels.
Lipicard 200 contains a fibrate (commonly fenofibrate) that activates PPAR‑alpha receptors in the liver and other tissues. This activation increases the breakdown of triglyceride‑rich particles, reduces the production of very‑low‑density lipoproteins (VLDL), and can improve HDL levels. Through these actions, it helps normalize lipid profiles and may reduce the risk of complications related to severe hypertriglyceridemia.
Take Lipicard 200 exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Swallow the capsule or tablet whole with water, preferably at the same time each day. Some formulations are recommended with food to improve absorption, while others may be taken with or without food, so follow the specific instructions on your prescription label or as advised by your healthcare provider. Do not change the dose or stop the medicine without consulting your doctor.
Lipicard 200 can sometimes be used together with statins in selected patients who need additional lipid control, but this combination may increase the risk of muscle‑related side effects such as myopathy or, rarely, rhabdomyolysis. Your doctor will decide whether the combination is appropriate for you, choose suitable doses, and monitor you for muscle pain, tenderness, weakness, or dark‑colored urine. Inform your doctor immediately if you develop any of these symptoms.
Lipicard 200 is generally not recommended in patients with active liver disease or unexplained persistent elevations in liver enzymes. Because the medicine is processed in the liver and can occasionally cause liver enzyme elevations, your doctor will usually check liver function tests before starting treatment and periodically thereafter. If you have a history of liver disease, hepatitis, or heavy alcohol use, inform your doctor so that the risks and benefits can be carefully assessed.
Lipicard 200 should be used with caution in patients with kidney impairment, and it is usually avoided in severe kidney disease. The medicine and its metabolites are eliminated through the kidneys, so reduced kidney function can increase drug levels and the risk of side effects, especially muscle toxicity. Your doctor may adjust the dose, choose an alternative therapy, or monitor kidney function more frequently if you have mild to moderate kidney problems.
Lipicard 200 is generally not recommended during pregnancy because there is limited safety data in pregnant women, and lipid‑lowering therapy is usually not a priority unless the benefit clearly outweighs the risk. If you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or think you might be pregnant, inform your doctor before starting or continuing Lipicard 200. Your doctor may advise stopping the medicine and focusing on diet and lifestyle measures during pregnancy unless there is a compelling reason to continue.
The use of Lipicard 200 is usually not advised during breastfeeding, as it is not well known whether the active ingredient passes into breast milk and what effects it may have on the nursing infant. If treatment with a fibrate is considered essential, your doctor may recommend discontinuing breastfeeding or choosing an alternative medicine with better‑established safety data. Always discuss the risks and benefits with your healthcare provider before using Lipicard 200 while breastfeeding.
Lipicard 200 is not commonly associated with drowsiness or impaired alertness, so it is unlikely to affect your ability to drive or operate machinery in most cases. However, some people may experience side effects such as dizziness, fatigue, or headache. If you feel unwell, dizzy, or less alert after taking the medicine, avoid driving, using heavy machinery, or performing tasks that require full concentration until you know how the medicine affects you.
It is advisable to limit or avoid alcohol while taking Lipicard 200. Both alcohol and fibrates can affect the liver, and excessive alcohol intake may increase the risk of liver problems and pancreatitis, especially in people with high triglycerides. Discuss your alcohol consumption with your doctor, who may recommend reducing or stopping alcohol to improve your lipid control and reduce the risk of side effects.
Do not take Lipicard 200 if you are allergic to fenofibrate, other fibrates, or any of the ingredients in the formulation. Inform your doctor about any previous allergic reactions to lipid‑lowering medicines, including rashes, swelling of the face or throat, breathing difficulty, or severe skin reactions. If you develop symptoms such as hives, itching, swelling, or trouble breathing after starting Lipicard 200, stop the medicine and seek immediate medical attention.
Common side effects of Lipicard 200 may include stomach pain, nausea, diarrhea, indigestion, headache, and mild muscle aches. These are often temporary and may improve as your body adjusts to the medicine. However, you should contact your doctor promptly if you experience persistent or severe abdominal pain (especially in the upper right side), yellowing of the skin or eyes, dark urine, severe muscle pain or weakness, unexplained fatigue, or signs of an allergic reaction. These may indicate liver, gallbladder, muscle, or hypersensitivity problems that require medical evaluation.
