General Use and Local Conditions
External use onlyLubic Gel is intended for external use on skin and mucous membranes and should not be ingested, injected, or used as an eye lubricant unless specifically formulated and labeled for ophthalmic use.
Lubic Gel (or Lubic Jelly) is a water-based, sterile lubricant used to reduce friction during medical and diagnostic procedures and for personal lubrication. Clinically, it is applied to instruments or mucous membranes during rectal or vaginal examinations, catheter insertion, endoscopy, and similar procedures. It may also be used as a personal lubricant to ease vaginal dryness or discomfort during intercourse, provided the product is labeled for such use.
No. Lubic Gel is not a contraceptive and does not protect against sexually transmitted infections (STIs). It does not contain spermicidal agents or antiviral or antibacterial drugs unless explicitly stated on the packaging. Its function is limited to lubrication. For contraception or STI prevention, appropriate barrier methods such as condoms and other recommended measures should be used.
Lubic Gel is typically water-based and generally compatible with latex, polyurethane, and polyisoprene condoms, as well as most silicone or plastic sex toys. Because it is not oil-based, it is less likely to weaken latex compared with oil-based products. However, users should always check the product label for material compatibility and avoid applying it to devices if the manufacturer advises against water-based lubricants or specific excipients present in the formulation.
Lubic Gel is applied topically. A small amount is usually placed directly on the medical instrument, glove, or the area of the body where lubrication is required, immediately before the procedure or activity. It should be spread evenly to create a thin lubricating film. The exact quantity depends on the procedure and clinical judgment. It is for external use on skin and mucous membranes only and should not be swallowed, injected, or inserted deep into body cavities beyond what is required for the intended procedure.
Most people tolerate Lubic Gel well. Possible side effects are usually mild and localized, such as transient burning, stinging, itching, or redness at the application site. These reactions are more likely in individuals with sensitive skin or allergies to any component of the gel, such as preservatives. Severe allergic reactions are rare but may include swelling, intense itching, or rash. If significant irritation or signs of allergy occur, the product should be washed off and medical advice sought promptly.
Lubic Gel is generally considered low risk in pregnancy when used externally on intact mucosa, as systemic absorption is expected to be minimal. It is commonly used in obstetric and gynecological examinations. However, pregnant individuals should ideally use it under the guidance of a healthcare professional, particularly for repeated or long-term use, and should inform their clinician of any discomfort or unusual symptoms after application.
When used as a topical lubricant on intact skin or mucous membranes, Lubic Gel is unlikely to result in clinically significant systemic absorption, and transfer into breast milk is expected to be negligible. It is generally considered compatible with breastfeeding. Care should be taken to avoid application on or near the nipples if there is a possibility that the infant could ingest the product. If such use is necessary, the area should be gently cleaned before breastfeeding.
People with a history of contact dermatitis, eczema, or known allergies to topical products should review the ingredient list carefully before using Lubic Gel. Preservatives, fragrances (if present), or certain gelling agents can occasionally trigger allergic or irritant reactions. A small patch test on a limited area of skin or mucosa may be advisable before broader use. If any itching, burning, or rash develops, the product should be discontinued and medical advice obtained.
Lubic Gel is formulated for use in diagnostic and examination procedures and is generally not expected to interfere with most routine tests when used appropriately. However, excessive quantities or contamination of specimens with the gel could theoretically affect certain laboratory analyses or imaging quality. Healthcare professionals usually apply only the amount needed and avoid direct contact between the gel and samples intended for laboratory testing.
Lubic Gel should be stored at room temperature, away from excessive heat, freezing, and direct sunlight. The cap or nozzle should be kept tightly closed when not in use to maintain sterility and prevent drying or contamination. The product should not be used after the expiry date or if the packaging is damaged, the seal is broken, or there is any visible change in color, consistency, or odor. For multi-use tubes, avoid touching the tip directly to skin, mucosa, or instruments to reduce the risk of contamination.
Lubic Gel is intended for use on intact skin and mucous membranes. It should generally not be applied to open wounds, ulcerated areas, or active infections unless specifically directed by a healthcare professional. Applying it to compromised tissue may increase irritation or interfere with appropriate wound care. If there is pain, discharge, or visible infection at the intended application site, medical evaluation is recommended before using the product.
