Common (mainly from pregabalin, often early in treatment): dizziness, drowsiness or sleepiness, tiredness, blurred or double vision, dry mouth, and swelling of the hands or feet. Weight gain and difficulty concentrating can also occur. Others: constipation, headache, and mild unsteadiness. Serious (seek medical attention): signs of an allergic reaction (swelling of the face, lips, or throat, difficulty breathing); mood changes or thoughts of self-harm; marked confusion; or muscle pain with weakness. Pregabalin can be habit-forming in some people and should be used only as prescribed. Withdrawal symptoms (anxiety, insomnia, nausea, sweating) can occur if it is stopped abruptly.
Take it exactly as prescribed, usually once or twice a day, with or without food, at the same times each day. Swallow the capsule whole with water. Your doctor may start you on a lower dose and adjust it gradually.
No. Stopping pregabalin abruptly can cause withdrawal effects (anxiety, sleep problems, nausea, sweating) and, rarely, seizures. If it needs to be stopped, your doctor will reduce the dose gradually over at least a week. Never stop on your own.

Mention any kidney problems (the dose may need lowering), mood or breathing conditions, heart failure, a history of substance misuse, and whether you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Also list all other medicines — especially opioids, sedatives, sleeping tablets, and other nerve/anxiety medicines — as combining them increases drowsiness and breathing risks.
