Common: headache, nausea, flushing, dizziness or lightheadedness, indigestion, and nasal congestion (stuffy nose). Dapoxetine can also cause dry mouth, drowsiness, anxiety, and, occasionally, fainting — standing up slowly helps. Others: blurred or altered vision (a bluish tinge), and abnormal dreams or restlessness. Serious (seek medical attention): a painful or prolonged erection lasting more than 4 hours (priapism) — a medical emergency; chest pain during sex (stop and seek help — do not take nitrates); sudden loss of vision or hearing; a sudden severe drop in blood pressure causing fainting; or a serious allergic reaction. Report these promptly.
Take one tablet with a full glass of water about 1–3 hours before planned sexual activity, on demand — not daily. Sildenafil usually starts working within 30–60 minutes. Do not take more than one tablet in 24 hours. It works only with sexual stimulation, and a heavy, fatty meal beforehand can delay its effect.
Never take it with nitrate medicines (used for chest pain/angina) or "poppers" (amyl nitrite) — the combination can cause a dangerous, potentially fatal drop in blood pressure. Tell your doctor about all your medicines, especially alpha-blockers and other blood-pressure medicines.
No. You should not drink alcohol while taking this medicine. Alcohol lowers your blood pressure further and increases the risk of dizziness and fainting from the dapoxetine.
Men with significant heart disease, recent heart attack or stroke, very low or uncontrolled blood pressure, severe liver or kidney problems, certain eye conditions, or a history of fainting should avoid it or use it only under close medical supervision. It is not for women or anyone under 18. Tell your doctor about all your medical conditions and medicines, including other ED drugs and antidepressants.
If you feel faint, lie down and raise your legs. An erection lasting more than 4 hours (priapism) needs urgent medical attention to prevent permanent damage — seek emergency care immediately if this happens.
