How MAXIFLO 250 INHALER Works

• Fluticasone propionate is an inhaled corticosteroid that reduces inflammation in the airway lining by suppressing the release of inflammatory substances. This decreases swelling and mucus production in the airways over time, helping to prevent flare-ups and improve lung function.
• Formoterol is a long-acting beta-2 agonist that relaxes the smooth muscle around the airways, widening them for an extended period and easing airflow. Combining an anti-inflammatory corticosteroid with a long-acting bronchodilator addresses both the underlying airway inflammation and the airway narrowing that cause asthma and COPD symptoms.

Hoarseness, sore throat, oral thrush (a fungal infection of the mouth), headache, cough and tremor are the most commonly reported effects. Muscle cramps, bone pain and an increased heart rate have also been reported. A rare but serious effect called paradoxical bronchospasm, where breathing suddenly worsens just after use, needs immediate medical attention. Long-term use has been associated with adrenal suppression, reduced bone density, cataracts and glaucoma, so periodic monitoring is advised.

• If you miss a dose of MAXIFLO 250 Inhaler, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not double the dose to make up for a missed one.

• Store the inhaler in its original pack, at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture, and out of the reach of children and pets.

• Use regularly as prescribed, even when feeling well, since this is a maintenance medicine
• Rinse the mouth with water after each use to help prevent oral thrush and hoarseness
• Keep a separate fast-acting reliever inhaler available for sudden symptoms
• Do not stop this inhaler abruptly without consulting the prescriber
• Check inhaler technique periodically with the prescriber or pharmacist
• Seek prompt medical attention if a rescue inhaler is needed more often than usual, or if breathing suddenly worsens just after using this inhaler
