How MEFTAL FORTE TABLET 10'S Works

• Mefenamic acid blocks the cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes responsible for producing prostaglandins, hormone-like substances that mediate pain and inflammation. By reducing prostaglandin synthesis, it lessens pain signals and inflammation at the site of injury or discomfort.
• Paracetamol's exact mechanism is not fully understood, but it is thought to reduce prostaglandin synthesis mainly within the central nervous system, lowering pain perception and body temperature. Combining the two provides pain relief through complementary pathways, addressing inflammation at its source while also raising the body's pain threshold.

Nausea, vomiting, heartburn, stomach pain, diarrhoea and headache are the most commonly reported effects. Dizziness, drowsiness and fluid retention have also been reported. A stomach ulcer or gastrointestinal bleeding, signs of which include black or bloody stools or vomit that looks like coffee grounds, needs urgent medical attention. A severe allergic reaction, with facial or throat swelling or difficulty breathing, also needs immediate medical attention.

• If you miss a dose of Meftal Forte Tablet 10'S, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not double the dose to make up for the missed one.

• Store the tablets in their original pack, below 25°C unless the pack states otherwise, away from direct sunlight and moisture, and out of the reach of children.

• Take with or after food to reduce the chance of stomach upset
• Use only for the short duration advised by the prescriber
• Avoid other paracetamol-containing products while taking this tablet
• Avoid alcohol during treatment
• Tell the prescriber about any history of stomach ulcers, kidney, liver or heart disease before starting
• Seek urgent medical help for black or bloody stools, vomiting blood, or facial swelling and breathing difficulty

• Meftal Forte is best taken with or after food, which reduces the chance of stomach upset. Alcohol should be avoided during treatment, since it can increase the risk of stomach irritation and liver injury.
