Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them.

General precautions
Medical supervision requiredMethycobal injection should be used only under medical supervision, with diagnosis of vitamin B12 deficiency or neuropathic conditions confirmed where possible by appropriate clinical and laboratory evaluation.
METHYCOBAL INJECTION 1 ML is the synthetic form of Vitamin B12. It helps to prevent deficiency of B12 in the body. Vitamin B12 plays an important role in the formation of red blood cells and also helps in absorption of iron in the body. When taken in combination with other vitamins, it helps to strengthen the immune system and improve metabolism of the body. Along with that, it is also considered important for the nervous system.
METHYCOBAL INJECTION 1 ML is effective if used in the dose and duration advised by your doctor. Do not stop taking it even if you see improvement in your condition. If you stop using METHYCOBAL INJECTION 1 ML too early, the symptoms may return or worsen.
METHYCOBAL INJECTION 1 ML should be administered under the supervision of a trained healthcare professional or a doctor only and should not be self-administered. The dose will depend on the condition you are being treated for and will be decided by your doctor. Follow your doctor’s instructions carefully to get maximum benefit from METHYCOBAL INJECTION 1 ML.
METHYCOBAL INJECTION 1 ML is safe if used in the dose and duration advised by your doctor. Take it exactly as directed and do not skip any dose. Follow your doctor's instructions carefully and let your doctor know if any of the side effects bother you.
Methycobal injection is a prescription medicine containing mecobalamin (methylcobalamin), an active, coenzyme form of vitamin B12. It is used to treat and prevent vitamin B12 deficiency and certain neuropathic conditions where vitamin B12 plays a role in nerve repair and function.
Methycobal injection is commonly used for vitamin B12 deficiency states, including those due to poor dietary intake, malabsorption, or gastrointestinal surgery, and for peripheral neuropathies associated with vitamin B12 deficiency or impaired utilization. It may be prescribed in conditions such as diabetic neuropathy, alcoholic neuropathy, or other neuropathic pain syndromes, as judged appropriate by a clinician.
Mecobalamin in Methycobal injection acts as a coenzyme in several metabolic pathways, including methylation reactions and DNA synthesis. It supports normal red blood cell production and helps maintain the integrity of the myelin sheath surrounding nerves. By promoting nerve regeneration and improving nerve conduction, it can help alleviate symptoms such as numbness, tingling, and neuropathic pain related to vitamin B12 deficiency.
Methycobal injection is administered by a healthcare professional, usually by intramuscular or intravenous injection, depending on clinical need and local prescribing information. The site and technique of injection are chosen to minimize discomfort and reduce the risk of local reactions. Patients should not attempt self-administration unless they have been specifically trained and instructed by a healthcare provider.
The dosage, frequency, and duration of Methycobal injection are individualized by the prescribing doctor based on the underlying condition, severity of vitamin B12 deficiency, patient age, comorbidities, and response to treatment. Because dosing recommendations can vary between regions and products, patients should follow the exact schedule provided by their clinician and the product’s approved prescribing information, and should not adjust the dose on their own.
Common side effects include pain, redness, or swelling at the injection site, mild fever, headache, nausea, loss of appetite, and a general feeling of discomfort. These reactions are usually mild and transient. If side effects persist, worsen, or if the patient experiences symptoms such as rash, itching, breathing difficulty, or facial swelling, medical attention should be sought immediately.
Vitamin B12 is essential during pregnancy, but the use of Methycobal injection in pregnant women should be based on a clear clinical need and under medical supervision. The prescriber will weigh the potential benefits of correcting deficiency or treating neuropathy against any theoretical risks. Pregnant patients should not start or continue Methycobal injection without discussing it with their obstetrician or treating physician.
Vitamin B12 is excreted into breast milk and is important for the infant’s neurological development. Use of Methycobal injection during breastfeeding is generally considered when there is a documented deficiency or a clear therapeutic indication in the mother. The decision should be made by the treating clinician, who will consider the maternal benefit and the potential exposure to the breastfed infant.
Methycobal injection may interact with certain medicines that affect blood cell formation, folate metabolism, or gastrointestinal absorption. In addition, high doses of vitamin B12 can influence some laboratory test results, including vitamin B12 assays. Patients should inform their doctor about all prescription medicines, over-the-counter products, herbal supplements, and vitamins they are taking before starting Methycobal injection.
If a scheduled injection is missed, the patient should contact their healthcare provider or clinic to arrange a new appointment. The dosing schedule should not be doubled or altered without medical advice. The clinician will decide whether the missed dose needs to be made up and how to adjust the treatment plan, if necessary.
Methycobal injection should be avoided in patients with a known hypersensitivity to mecobalamin, other cobalamins, or any component of the formulation. It should be used with caution in individuals with a history of allergic reactions to vitamin B12 products, in those with severe renal impairment, and in patients with certain hematological disorders where vitamin B12 therapy may mask underlying conditions. A full medical history and appropriate investigations are recommended before and during therapy.
