Generally well tolerated. Common (usually mild): daytime drowsiness, headache, dizziness, and nausea. Serious (uncommon, seek medical attention): signs of an allergic reaction, or unusual mood changes. Because it can cause drowsiness, take care with next-morning alertness.
Take it shortly before bedtime (commonly 30–60 minutes before), or as your doctor advises. Keep to the same bedtime routine and avoid bright screens around the time you take it.
It can cause some drowsiness. Avoid driving or operating machinery if you feel drowsy, and do not drink alcohol, which disturbs sleep and adds to drowsiness.
It is generally for short-term use. If your sleep problems persist, see your doctor to look for an underlying cause rather than continuing indefinitely.
Tell your doctor if you have an autoimmune condition, epilepsy, liver problems, or take other sedatives or blood thinners, and if pregnant or breastfeeding.
It helps signal sleep but works best alongside good sleep habits — a consistent schedule, a dark quiet room, and limiting caffeine and screens in the evening.
