How METROGYL DG GEL FORTE 20 GM Works

• Metronidazole acts against anaerobic bacteria, the type that thrive in gum pockets, by damaging their DNA so they cannot survive and multiply.
• Chlorhexidine gluconate binds to surfaces in the mouth and disrupts the outer membrane of bacteria, reducing the overall bacterial load on the gums and teeth. Together, the two ingredients target the mixed bacterial population that causes gum disease and help reduce inflammation, bleeding and discomfort.

A temporary bitter or metallic taste, and a burning, tingling or dry sensation at the application site, are commonly reported. Staining of the teeth or tongue can occur with prolonged use, and taste can be temporarily altered. Rash, swelling of the face or throat, or difficulty breathing are signs of an allergic reaction and need immediate medical attention.

• If you miss a dose of METROGYL DG GEL FORTE 20 GM, apply it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not apply a double dose to make up for the missed one.

• Store the tube in its original pack, out of the reach of children and pets. Keep it at the temperature stated on the current J B Chemicals pack. Do not use the gel after the expiry date printed on the pack.

• Wash hands before and after applying the gel
• Apply a thin film to the affected gums only, and avoid swallowing it
• Avoid eating, drinking or rinsing the mouth for a short period after application
• Avoid alcohol during treatment, since it can react with the metronidazole content
• Continue regular brushing, dental cleaning and follow-up as advised by the dentist
• Seek urgent medical help for facial swelling, breathing difficulty or a widespread rash

• No specific food interaction has been established for this gel, though eating or drinking should be avoided for a short period right after application so it can act on the gums.
• Alcohol should be avoided during treatment because of its reaction with the metronidazole content.
