How MINIRIN 0.1MG TABLET 15'S Works

• Desmopressin mimics the action of vasopressin, the natural antidiuretic hormone produced by the pituitary gland. It binds to receptors in the kidneys, promoting the reabsorption of water back into the bloodstream instead of it being lost in the urine.
• This leads to more concentrated urine and a lower urine volume, which reduces the frequency and volume of urination in conditions where the body's own vasopressin signal is insufficient or where nighttime urine production needs to be reduced.

Headache, nausea, stomach pain or cramps, and flushing are commonly reported. Low blood sodium (hyponatraemia) from fluid retention is the most important serious side effect. Its symptoms can include headache, nausea, vomiting, weight gain, swelling, muscle cramps, confusion, irritability and drowsiness, and, in severe cases, seizures or loss of consciousness. A widespread rash, severe dizziness or breathing difficulty are signs of an allergic reaction and need immediate medical attention.

• Store the tablets in their original pack, below 25°C unless the pack states otherwise, away from direct sunlight and moisture, and out of the reach of children and pets. Do not use the tablets after the expiry date printed on the pack.

• Follow the prescriber's advice on limiting fluid intake around the time of dosing
• Watch for headache, nausea, vomiting, confusion or unusual drowsiness, and report them promptly
• Attend follow-up appointments and blood tests as advised, especially when treatment starts or changes
• Tell the prescriber about any history of low blood sodium, kidney disease or heart failure
• Limit alcohol, since it can affect fluid balance and mask early warning symptoms
